KUSI San Diego of now = KGTV of 1989?

Just looking at the K-uuUUUUUUU-SI web page, and noticed a lot of former 10 News anchoers there.
Is it just me, or is there a pattern here? Anyone know why this is?

They are in the business these days of sheltering as a livery of old news reporters and anchors who are trying to eek out a few more years in the biz before they end up on the obituary page of the Union-Tribune. These guys have good experience and a good name which they can get cheap. In my opinion, Leonard Villareal is the weakest of all the on air talent...his live shots never go smoothly, he is constantly tongue tied. Sounds sometimes that he has partaken in a bit of the hooch left in an empty desk drawer in a dark corner. Their ratings lately have also taken a hit with FOX6's faster-paced more 18-35 demographic approach to news.

Paul Bloom (KNSD veteran)
Kimberley Hunt (KGTV)
Doug Curlee (KNSD veteran)
Leonard Villareal (KGTV)
Ed Lenderman (KGTV)
Michael Tuck (KGTV and KFMB)
Renee Kohn (KSWB)
Sandra Maas (KFMB)

Their current web page shocked me...they are the last local TV station to have established a web presence. Until recently it was a static page which only gave their phone numbers and address.

McKinnon has a reputation for squeezing as much as he can out of as little as possible. Granted, his shows in San Diego look a whole lot better than his stations in Corpus Christi and Beaumont...and KUSI does give the audience a good alternative in a lot of competitve time slots. But I agree that XETV is putting out a much fresher product right now.

Interesting... I hear that KUSI and his Texas stations all have identical imaging, with the exception that KUSI doesn't have a WeatherCenter

With the heat of XETV, KUSI is in the process of bringing in a new news director.

What they need is a network. I really don't get what they are trying to do at KUSI. The whole thing seems kind of wasteful, imho.

They do fine as a indie.

Can you say, "group deal?" Or, how about "bulk rate?"

All the back seat anchors we have here. Have any one of you been in the
business. Micahel Tuck could buy & sell each & everyone of you with
his salary.

There are still a few bare-bones local TV sites around...

A Fox O&O, no less.

Yes, I have, and it's none of your business.

The station really comes off as being more-and-more stale. They've got the new show titles whizzing by in super 3D but they are still in need of a MAJOR makeover.

If I was in charge I would deep six Susan Lennon (she's not a bad reader but not aesthetically pleasing to look at), John Soderholm (even the most innocuous story that he reports on seems to be a looming crisis), Leonard Villareal (he slurs and trips on his words constantly lately), and Rod Luck (past his prime, tries to be too folksy). Of course Rod Luck will never be fired since his wife is the Director of Human Resources for the station....can we say nepotism?
