KWWL weekend newscasts ending, along with stations in Mason City & Rockford, IL

Just heard about this on KCJJ. The news for each of these TV stations will come from a central hub (not sure where that will be):

Allen Media is gutting operations at pretty much all of their stations. Plenty of chatter about this on various TV news specific forums. TEGNA is in the early stages of doing pretty much the same thing. Look for this happening elsewhere, especially in smaller markets, with the political changes in D.C.

gray TV has been doing the same thing in Minnesota and Nebraska
In Minnesota Mankato (my market) they pulled the local produced news and we have Rochester, MN (Gray owns NBC and Fox there) the morning news (4:30-7) and 9pm. Weekends is Rochester news. The only local Mankato news is Monday thru Friday at 5, 6 and 10. We are two different media markets

Nebraska it started two weeks ago.
Gray NBC affiliate KNOP/2.1 (North Platte) is now simulcasting midday and weekend newscasts from sister NBC station KSNB/4.1 (York-Hastings), with KNOP’s local newscasts continuing weeknights at 6 and 10 p.m

This is some interesting history on KWWL, I never knew they used to be owned by the insurance company AFLAC:

An addition to my post above
Mankato use to have news on Saturdays at 6 (if nothing else was on) and 10 on 12-1 CBS and 9 on FOX 12-2. Sundays was the 9 & 10 news only. A few months ago they added a 5pm on NBC. Gray owns all the stations in Mankato (CBS, FOX, NBC and CW+). Weekdays was 5:30-7am on both CBS & NBC (same news), noon, 5, 6 and 10 on CBS and 9 on FOX.
Our "news" now on weekdays
4:30-7 Rochester on CBS & NBC
noon-12:30 CBS and 12-1 NBC from Rochester
5,6,10 CBS Mankato
9 FOX Rochester for an hour now

Saturdays (all Rochester)
6-7AM NBC
6PM NBC**
9PM FOX
10PM NBC**

Sundays (all Roch)
6-7AM NBC
9AM FOX
5PM NBC
9PM FOX
10PM NBC **

The ones with ** use to be on CBS until middle of December. Since the news from Rochester is on NBC there I assume it was easier to have it follow on NBC here in case due to late shows from NFL and College Football
