KYLD's Jazzy Jim and Joe Breezy Terminated Over Prank

CC took the opportunity to unload some money...no doubt. Still, you have to be careful with your audience...

Maybe they shouldv'e been suspended, but not fired.

How can some people be so dumb to think they were getting real "breasts"on a radio promotion especially when it was on April Fools Day and the doctor was Dr Sanders as in Colonel Sanders? She took the prizes and then filed a law suit. Some people have no sense of humor. Now she cost two good guys their job. I hope she is proud of herself.

Everyone can't be expected to get the joke, and that's why such rules on radio contests exist. It's simple really--if you really mean one thing, don't imply something completely different.

The contest winner isn't at fault for wanting what she thought she had won. The contest DJs are at fault for intentionally being misleading, jokingly or not. They knew better, and now they have to pay the price for not doing better.

Any quesses on who might be Jazzy's replacement?

Jeff Kapugi resigned his post at Clear Channel/D.C. just yesterday. A CHR Brand Manager who just happened to work under current Clear Channel/S.F. Market Manager Dave Pugh for years in D.C.? I think it is a fair guess that he is meeting up with his old boss soon in 'Frisco.

i'd say that's a 100% correct "guess". And Jeff will be bringing his own evening jock in 2 months... another "guess"

This is a very unfortunate situation. Mancow Muller (while at Wild 107/94.9 back in the 90s) pulled a much more insane stunt (stopping traffic on the Bay Bridge, more info: google it) and didn't get fired. Joe & Jim are great radio guys who don't deserve this. Hopefully it gets worked out.

Mancow's stunt was a couple of years before Clear Channel owned KYLD. Somewhat ironically, CC did own the station when the case finally went to court, so they did have to pay the fine - I believe it was about $500,000. A lot has changed since then, including greater scrutiny and bigger fines from the FCC for obscenity, and a number of jocks nationwide have been fired for just pushing the envelope too far.

Today's corporate radio stations will not defend you. They run radio like any other business, you got caught for a prank, say something that was misunderstood and you will be terminated. They would no longer defend Howard Stern....what makes them more of an exception. Yes it was alittle harsh, what makes you think really twice if it's worth getting back in radio.

My three ideas for program director at WiLD are:

1. Sam Diggedy (who is the current PD at Co-owned KDON)

2. Angel Garcia (who was a PD in Fresno...I think)

3. Lauren Michaels (who was a PD in Santa Rosa)

Any thoughts....

Add Rick Gilette to this list! He prevously programmed Chicago sister WKSC(103.5 KISS-FM).

Well Orlandl (of WiLD in Tampa), turned it down, because if you're gonna get rid of the perfect guy, for that gig, over this bit, I' DEFINITELY shouldn't be there. Wouldn't last two days.

Sad, Jazzy kicks ass

Well, the bottom line is the radio station needed to do cuts for financial reason and found the perfect opportunity in Jim and Joe.

You the listener can care less what happens to any of the talent on the station because you continue to listen and support KYLD. You place all of these comments about boo-hoo bye-bye Joe and Jim only to boost your ego and make yourself feel socially activated, but actually, if you really look at it, you are the complete opposite.

The reality is your going to continue to be completely loyal to corporate clear channel because you are too busy being a slave to making money for the materialistic purposes, to buy $100 cartoon shirts and restricted trips to Vegas to impress your friends.

So, admit it. You can care less who gets fired because you are going to continue to be completely loyal to clear channel. Like a sell-out.

A bigger question may be why are the Doghouse (JV & Elvis) meeting individually with the new GM for KYLD (Clear Channel)?? I'm no Doghouse superfan, (wordlife where you at??) but just thought it would make for interesting speculation...any thoughts?

also... knowing what Joe was making$, I dont think they cut him for budget reasons...Jazzy Jim maybe, but Joe...doubtful.

I'm sure he's up for the Sac slot however, knowing Joe he'll wait it out. The 4th quarter is coming up and with all the movement that will take place, him and Jim could possibly have some fun with the bidding wars.

david / gringo / joe is great jock, and he deserves better than the treatment he got, no matter how bad the prank..... Im sure he will and somewhere positive for him...

maybe one of them is coming back with a new partner to freshen things up a little while staying familiar. Sounds like a good solution. Def. much better then that garbage they got on now

just saw this on all access:

Was that ex-KYLD/SAN FRANCISCO night jock JOE BREEZY on the air at ENTERCOM Top 40/Mainstream KDND (107.9 THE END)/SACRAMENTO?

Yep ... BREEZY pulled a couple afternoon shifts last week and this week is filling in at night. Will KDND be BREEZY's next long-term destination?

took him about 2 weeks to get things going! way to go Joe! hopefully he'll get the gig:)

Morningradio...

You called me out...so I had to show up. Ya know, I have boycotted 94.9 the day it was announced the Dog House was fired.

Elvis and JV did break up. They had a fallout, don't know how nasty, when they were doing their radio show back in May I believe.

JV is single handedly running the site right now. Very interesting to know they have met with the station (if it's true).

I did see Hammerin Hank post here a few weeks ago saying T-Man has been missing as well.

JV was on with Sarah on Alice briefly a month ago...It'd be nice to hear them in the mornings that's for sure...

I'd be surprised if JV and/or Elvis was brought back since Jazzy Jim and Joe were released (supposely) over a prank, but if they are indeed brought back, hells yeah.

Just heard Joe at KDND "The End" in Sac last night doing his "Do Not Date List" bit. Even used the call where a girl's boyfriend was afraid of getting dumped in the garbage & getting a heart attack.
