Dear Licensee:
This letter concerns the operational status and history of station KYTE(FM), Independence,
Oregon (KYTE), licensed to Yaquina Bay Communications, Inc. (YBC). We have before us the abovereferenced
renewal application (Renewal Application) filed by YBC on September 29, 2021, as well as an
October 4, 2021, informal objection to the Renewal Application (Informal Objection) filed by PACNW
Broadcasting, LLC (PACNW), licensee of station KPPT-FM, Depoe Bay, Oregon,1 and a December 31,
2021, Petition to Deny (Petition) filed by Outlaw Music Association (OMA), licensee of co-channel
station KIEV-LP, Camas, Washington.2 As explained below, we direct YBC to provide the additional
information requested below within 30 days of the date of this letter. Failure to do so may lead to
dismissal of the Renewal Application and cancellation of the KYTE license under section 312(g) of the
Communications Act of 1934, as amended (Section 312(g)).3"

The clock struck midnight. The FCC lowered the boom on KYTE this morning and has deleted it and cancelled the license renewal.

KYTE can't broadcast on 102.7 due to it operating illegally on purpose and then lying about it.

When KYTE failed to renew its STA, its license eventually expired. At that point, it wouldn't matter much what they did. A lack of candor certainly didn't help though!

All Yaquina Bay Communications stations are ceasing operations as of January 1st, 2024.
This includes KNCU-92.7 (Country), KCRF-96.7 (Classic Rock), KNPT-1310 (News/Talk), KBCH-1400 (Adult Standards) and KWDP-820 Waldport (also Adult Standards).

The central Oregon coast will be losing a lot of radio service from this. This leaves 100.7, 97.5, 93.7, and a few non-comms as the only stations in town.

The area has been over-radioed for years! When I was young, there was one station each in Newport, Lincoln City and Toledo.

Not a Chapter 11 or 7 or etc bankruptcy where someone would take possession of the stations and licenses like the epic Stoltz mess (pending FCC approval).
Yaquina Bay Communications still holds the licenses. Bank sued to get the properties in lieu of cash, for now. About all Yaquina has left to sell are the licenses.
