KYW CBS 3's Larry Mendte probed for snooping on Alycia Lane, sources say

Is this some sort of revenge or parting shot courtesy of Alycia?

Why does it need to be updated? Wait and find out what happens. This may end up being some sort of dirty trick pulled by Alycia and her lawyers.

I guess you're right.

Unreal. I don't know what to say about this. CBS need to do something with KYW-TV because morale at the station has not been good. People got laid off recently including Tom Lamaine and the Lane mess and now this. I fell sad for the station because they have come on strong in the past few years being a solid number 2 competitor to WPVI Action News. If this news is true, what will this do to the station as a whole and will they ever recover?

Wow, 3 was coming so strong these last few years, but since they moved to that new studio, they been havning alot of bad luck.

On asidenote, ch6, which basically ignored the Alycia Lane story when she was arrested in NY (altough later reported it when she was fired), has this as one of the top stories on their website, and its titled "Feds probe CBS3's Larry Mendte", which is odd, since they ussally don't say the station name, but then again kyw-tv is just as if not more famous. I wonder how ch10 will cover this, since they did the complete opposite of ch6 back in December, and reported on the Alycia Lane arrest during every top and 1/2 of the hour.

KYW 1060 had this news as its top story during the 11 PM newscast tonight. Channel 6 mentioned it also in its 11 PM newscast. That's big of channel 6 to mention the Lane story after deciding not to broadcast the story of her arrest.

the smarm always rises to the top.... the suits at cbs must be fuming..another negative story....look for management heads to roll in addition to mendte's if all this is true.

CBS 3's Larry Mendte will be off the air during this Federal Investigation

CBS 3 KYW-TV/DT has issued the following statement: "Late last week, CBS 3 became aware of an investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office regarding anchor Larry Mendte. CBS 3 is cooperating fully with that office in this matter. Mr. Mendte will not be on CBS 3's broadcasts pending further investigation." http://cbs3.com/topstories/larry.mendte.cbs.2.737862.html

CBS 3's Pat Ciarrocchi mentioned the Mendte story on the 6:30 PM newscast tonight.

Does anyone think that if CBS 3 offered to pay Alycia some sort of severance now, this would disappear?

Dawn Stensland

Now that Mendte has been taken off the air by CBS 3, should FOX 29 do the same for Dawn Stensland while her husband is being investigated, take her off the air temporally?

WOW! Did anyone notice Julius was able to type the second post above in 33 SECONDS? Look out, Evelyn Wood!

Other than giving any Mendte stories to the other co-anchor, why would another station remove one of their highly paid anchors because her husband is in trouble with the law?

That's like me getting suspended from work if my wife gets a DUI. Not very smart.

An updated version of the Inky story says they expect the investigation to be finished by June. Does anyone think CBS 3 will make its own decisions before that?

Larry and Alycia blew KYW out of the gutter, and they know that. I think they're gonna hang on to Larry for as long as possible, wait until this is over (end of June doesn't seem long), then quietly throw him back on air (if things work out).

If today's Inky story is the worst of it, I think you may be right. A few months from now, most of the viewers will have forgotten or won't care.
