Northwest Arkansas had a population boom in the 1990's. Companies such as Wal Mart, Tyson Chicken, and J.B. Hunt Trucking led the way in employers. Hispanics also migrated to the region. The first full time radio station to serve hispanics in the region was Springdale's KZRA ("La Zeta") on 1590 kHz. The primary programming of the station came from the Jones Satellite Radio network's format (La 'Z').
The 1590 frequency in northwest Arkansas dates back to 1966, and Dewey Johnson's ownership of KSPR. The station Was a full service AC and switched to country in 1976. The call sign was eventually changed to KQXK, and then became an oldies station in the 1980's. It is now a sports talk station called "The Ticket" (KYNG).
