KZRO-FM UPGRAGE TO 100KW-REDDING METRO-FOR SALE

I think we are on to something, perhaps the answer is for D.M.C. to hold a raffle for the station. I know in Bakersfield, they have raffles for houses all the time, guys like us would have a chance of owning a really cool radio station. You would have to limit the number of tickets one could buy to keep the greedy mega broadcasters out of it. D.M.C. might end up getting allot more than he is asking for it.

-Stunting:
what is this market's approach/feel/demo....

i always thought, the "apperance" of a
midnite, pirate radio session, *UN*Authorized,
then, regular programming during the day, would
be the coooolest/most-slick...

literally, just the legal ID's/necassary's...
but have a nameless jock or a one-word handle,
(hey, its "carter") and u know what we are doing,
but*dont read that same thing again, and again...

next time, heck, its "davis" and, i gotta make this
short, here is music (Sound effect of a door banging)
..."Davis" is never heard of again.

Re: KZRO-FM UPGRAGE TO 100KW-REDDING METRO-FOR SALE or LEASE?

Based on conversations I have had with other owners who are also looking to sell, the capital for the next investment is locked up in the equity in the current investment and they can't do the next one until the current one sells. Unfortunately, based on the current state of affairs in the market, it is very likely that advertising revenues are shrinking rapidly, just like job and credit availability. The window of opportunity for an over inflated sale price may have closed.

I would consider leasing this station!

Using income tax filings for the last five years to compute actual revenues against expenses should help calculate a reasonable lease rate. Shall we talk?

People that can, Do. People that can't, dream or talk trash. If you had the cash, you would be to busy constructing the new station, rather than trying to get some sucker to pay you way more than the station is worth or taking time to post junk news about your big gold find. What you have is another non-rated juke box that plays oldies in the daytime and hard rock at night. Like no one ever thought of the idea before. If you have no cash -- write no trash. So far, all we see is talk and no action. No sale here.

attn: Sam,
I dont see you endorsing a check to set up an AM/FM/LP-FM,
or even a "Drive-IN" FM operation, this is a forum.

Forum, can be loosely described as a place of mixed
opinion, fact, and do i dare say, speculation!

u say, no cash dont trash, i say:
fulfill the dream; or hell, at least set up a online stream!

Fulfill the dream. I wish I wIn nexts weeks Loto ! If you buy a car for $ 30,000 and invest another $ 30,000 -- I can dream that some fool buys my car for 1.5 million. Dream on K-zero. 100.1 is worth about $ 700 - 800 K TOPS. But anyone can dream. I have no problem with that. I do have a problem with some fool that takes the time to fulfill thoses dreams by posting self promoting ads on this board and every where else, while not working fulltime on building out the new construction permit that the jerk claims is worth all of the gold in California. Everyone should dream. We all need to dream. If we do not dream, we will die. But what we do not need is a jerk that claims his dream is worth 1.5 million dollars and he does nothing more that posts ads for a dream, that will never come true, unless he is willing to work. Playing dJ or posting on sites is not working to build a C1 radio station. Dream on, dream on.

4th of July has come and gone. And K-ZERO has yet to start construction of it's new C1.

Sam, you have issues bro.

Become a licensee, then I'll listen. BTW, already turned down $1M.

In the meantime, we're co-locating with another C1 at the new site to save on build out costs, next door to KRRX/Mapleton.
But thanks for your words of optimism. Almost makes me proud to be one of the last O+Os.

zdjman, if you have the money for the next station, and your current station is profitable, I'm curious, what is the motivation for selling?

Why not keep both stations and double the profits?

Or lease the one at a reasonable price and let someone else run it while you build equity in your empire?

H2BL8

That's an easy one.
Grew up in Chicago, Cubs are doing great and have a shot this year,
and wife has been in California her whole life, would like to see something else.
Plus, have my eye on a few Chicago rimshot stations, one of which I'd like to grab.
dmc

dmc,

You must live in fantasy land. The cubs are broadcast on WGN, and the cubs are not going to leave WGN for some rimshot. You are also never going to get another offer larger than they one you claimed that you turned down. With the current credit crunch and the state of the economy nobody is going to offer that kind of money for your little station. You missed your chance. You may have been able to get 1.5 million 2 years ago, but not today. I think that you will be lucky if you get $300K.

Disagree:
Yes, the alleged(?sp) offer, questions why you would turn it down;
but, some one (myself, if i win the lotto : ) / or , some thing will
pay the 1.5 asking price * only because, it's....custard's 'last stand' !!

this is after the cbs sale finalizes, and the Clear Channel, ( cant say cheap!channel)
as i am certain those stations, will rake in a pretty penny!! but, after that, and
the stand alone, atlanta, st.louis stations are sold ( say a year later), and KZRO,
still on the market, *(sigh), some one that wants to 'play radio' and is loaded beyond
belief, will bite!

this person, will think its cool, to play their fave's and possibly, fail miserably...
after the novelity, wears off , they sell it to a pay-4=pray, for far less than 1.5 M,
and, the rest is history...

So when's the target date for the new C-1 ? Next year sometime ?

HDTV will be here ------- way before KZRO turns the C1 on. He has more listeners on the internet than locals over the air. And the site is a second rate site at best. KZRO missed the boat ------ again.

Re: KZRO-FM -FOR SALE

ok, so - for arguments sake, im the sap that buys, 100.1 / for 1.5 M,

2 quik questions:
(1) would a dance-friendly, "pop40" sound work?
-or better yet, would it lose money, but at least sound
"Cool" to the kids listening....meaning, if i drop 1.5M, on the
station, that means, i just won the mega millions, lol -
and if i did that, i wouldnt mind spending my jackpot winnings,
(annually) to keep the station on aire....with out regard
to a bottom line / profit margin,etc....just an image of
a vision of theee best, most fun radio station...on the dial !

2.
for that dream, how much i am willing to spend, after
the -1.5/mill, to get the frequencey....i dont mean the
'add on's', or silly/extra $ for promotions, or over paying
some big name talent, but what is the actual cost
to operate that frequencey...in that market....
[cost of property/local.state,taxes,etc,
full -time staff/engineers,etc].... just curious...

This guy sounds like he is a friend of Chicagoland's Joe Walker.

"I have created a new format! All the radio stations in the world have been 'doing it wrong'... "

Heard this rant before. It may work in Smalltown, OK... But it ain't gonna work in Redding! OR Chicago..

You'd be smart to investigate the ins and outs of Insurance Sales!

The station as it sits isn't worth a dime more than 600K.

Just out of curiosity, what are the stats for Redding? By that I mean what kind of people are there? Is it a young crowd, college town or older people? Is it growing, diminishing?

I've only blown through Redding a couple of times on my way to Oregon. Pretty area.

But KZRO has been on the market for, what, about 3 years? There's gotta be some reason why (other than being overpriced which can be negotiated) the station hasn't sold. Maybe the market potential for Redding is too limited for the money.

It's just like an AM/FM combo that is for sale in King City. The guy wants 2 million for it. But have you seen King City? What a hole. No growth or potential there. Maybe one of the channels can be moved to another COL but not both.

That combo has also been on the block for a few years.
