L.A./Riverside-San Bernardino Arbitron Radio Ratings: December 2011

What do the demos look like for 18-34? Its interesting that KAMP has now closed in to within a tenth of a point on the full book. I imagine KIIS will see a bump in the holiday book, though, because of their Jingle Ball concert.

I'm surprised that AMP hasn't come up with a competing event! KROQ throws some great events that engage their listeners, why not AMP?

Does anyone know how much KIIS outbills KPWR and KAMP?

Of course KOST on top with a huge 6.2 share. Just goes to show radio doesn't have to be good to get good ratings. I know I am not the target demo for the station, but man o man, my wife made us listen to it for three days straight over Christmas and I am ready to pull my hair out. Cut!! Enough Already!! How many times in one six hour period can they play "Feliz Navidad", "Happy Christmas (War is Over)" and whatever that pablum is that Mariah Carey spews out? The USC Marching Band thinks these guys are repetitious.

But bonuses should be the order of the day in Burbank as CC has the top 3 spots and 5 of the top 11. As Charlie would say, "uh, that's Winning".

You neglected to mention KQIE was within 0.1 of KGGI.

That's even more amazing than AMP's very honorable accomplishments considering KQIE hasn't spent millions of dollars marketing over three years, has been on 15 months, and beat KGGI 18-34 and tied them 18-49.

Oh, and KQIE beat not only KGGI, but KIIS, KAMP, KDAY, and Power 106 to boot...

This is a somewhat pointless argument, as we are having it over these useless numbers, rather than the demos that truly matter.

However, I still think KAMP's accomplishment is larger. KGGI is a powerhouse in the IE with heritage. KIIS is a powerhouse, not only in the country's second largest media market but nationwide. If the demos look anything like the above ratings, than KAMP is getting close to dethroning a station that has Ryan Seacrest in the morings, a personality who is syndicated nationwide; a station that has consistently been one of the nation's top billers for years; a station who's name and imaging have been carried over to CC CHRs throughout the nation. KGGI, for its all heritage, does not have nearly the breadth or depth of KIIS.

Say what? You have to be kidding. KIIS is a powerhouse – and it was beating KGGI in some key demos before KQIE signed on in Riverside. KQIE beat KIIS, KGGI, and KAMP – not to mention Power and KDAY. Remember, the L.A. stations can have an advantage because they have near full market coverage in the I.E. and PPM holders can drive them to L.A. How can AMP’s accomplishment be bigger? Do you think they could’ve done it with zero marketing on a brand new frequency? KIIS’s brand nationwide has zero to do with the competitive landscape in Los Angeles. No one knows or cares. KGGI went Top 40 in the early 80’s when KIIS did – so they have as much heritage as KIIS does in format.
