KFI dropped to 12th? Why? And when was the last time that KFI was not in the top ten?

In my Opinion, the reason KFI has and will be dropping are:

Bill Carroll
Tim Conway Jr
Bryan Suits
Lisa Ann Walker
Mo Kelly
The Fork Report

Seriously does anyone find any of these shows even half way listenable?

I'm sort of Glad because Robin has basically done nothing over the past several years except made one bad choice after another, but because KABC has been even worse she has been insulated from criticism.

Conway too often revisits the "frat-boy" topics that he and Doug Steckler liked to discuss when they were on KLSX. And Mo Kelly recently took issue with Conway's "What did Jesse Jackson Say?" segment, opining that making fun of someone's unintelligible speech is not funny. Funny or not, the bit has gone on for far too many months.....or years.

If KFI kept Handel and Carroll and got rid of everyone else, including the increasingly-tiresome Rush Limbaugh, and brought back Rabbi Mentz, Joe Crummey and Karel Bouley (with a new partner---and I mean that in the radio sense of the word) and brought in Justin & Howie from Tahoe and Max & Gaydos from Phoenix, the station would me much more listenable. Probably even more "stimulating." How 'bout it, Robin?

pleased to see Kysr trending upwards, I feel like they program a far better alternative format then Kroq, though with out as much personality sadly.

In a letter posted on LARadio.com on August 6, Herb Redholtz of West Covina has a theory about KFI's ratings plunge: "The number of commercials, promos, mini spots and other non entertainment air time has increased considerably, especially in the all important morning and afternoon drive times." He was kind enough to not go off on a tirade about Sleep Number Beds, ZeroRez and Kars For Kids.

KFI was in a state of vacationing hosts last PPM which just seems recently has came to an end.

Carroll was filling in for Handel, some awful sub who wasn't Kennedy (whose name I neither tried to remember and easily forget) was filling in for Carroll, Ken flew without John, John flew solo without Ken and Shannon, Petros filled for Rich Morata, Archer filled for Hoffman, in addition to the round robin of garbage hosts this Summer filling in for the regulars on vacation. I don't listen to Rush but in the few times I did he was on the beach as well.

Summer slide is what I'd call KFI's dip. If KFI continues to trend downward then it's time to man the lifeboats and have the band start playing Amazing Grace on the Promenade deck.

As someone who listens to KFI quite regularly, even I would agree it was unlistenable last month.

The fifth highest billing station out of over ten thousand US commercial stations does not consider a format change.

Did you omit John and Ken by accident? You don't want to forget about a team that has a cume of nearly 1 million listeners every week.

And.....KABC is now at 37th place. I guess bringing back the 5th hour with John Phillips didn't work out.

@Johnnydontlike's twitter bio states, "I entertain people while they sit in traffic." That should be changed to, "I entertain about 3 employees inside our studio."

Yes, Henry, I omitted John and Ken. I don't know if the omission was an "accident" but it sounds better to call it an accident than to say it was just me being absent-minded. :D A lot of Sacramento politicians have tried to blame John and Ken for the failure of several tax-hike proposals that have been on the ballot. Certainly they've called attention to all the proposals and pointed out how the money will be wasted on government salaries and pensions...and they're always right. I wish they were heard in every major city in California and maybe none of the tax hikes and bond proposals would ever get passed!

I believe J&K's ratings are down similar to the whole station (someone with actual access to that data can chime in to validate or contradict) and I think it can all be traced to the fateful "Whitney Incident" whereby they have been shackled and muzzled ever since. The topics have become more banal, their "causes" less relevant, and they are now saddled with the distractions of show prep for a market on the other side of the country. It has all affected the show and they are no longer must-listen radio.

On LARadio.com August 8 is a letter from talk-show host Doug McIntyre complaining about Bill Carroll. The bestest comment is this one: "I am so tired of hearing about his hot wife, his mother-in-law, and his two children. Who cares, except him?" There ya go!

Doesn't matter. If KABC suddenly got brilliant, did the best talk radio on earth and launched a successful promotional campaign, they'd be struggling to make the top 25 or 30.

Available audience speaking your language within your noise-free signal. That's KABC's limitation. Sadly, there's not much difference between the money they make now and the money they'd make if they were good.

I followed the link to the radio-online site for the Riverside-San Bernardino ratings, and noticed that KCXX-FM seems to be duplicated.
I don't notice any method to question this there, so I am wondering whether someone here can figure out whether this apparent dupe actually omits some other station in the market?
Thanks for the help.

Check another site, such as AllAccess.

Since there are so many non-subscribed stations in the IE, the list is always going to be incomplete.
