LA Times: Conservative talk radio on the wane in California

talks about John and Ken (KFI), Rush, etc. losing their influence in So. Cal.

No, that wasn't the point of the article. The point was that there are fewer local conservative hosts on California stations, thanks to cutbacks and syndication, meaning less opportunity for conservative talk radio to influence California politics, as opposed to national politics.

So, what does that say for moderate or liberal ones?

Nothing, since most (all?) of the talk show hosts mentioned in the article seem to have been replaced w/other conservatives....

Smedge: on this you're right on. But, people on the left will look for almost anything to butress the argument that "right wing talk radio is going out of style".

I have a member of my family who is far left wing, politically speaking. Who took the time at a family funeral recently, no less, to chide me about this. I can't speak for California...but in my home town in Ohio, our talk station is in double-digits, with Limbaugh above a 15 share 25-54. Doesn't sound to me as though conservative talk is going out of style. If anything, it sounds to me as though our current President is drawing attention to Limbaugh...and causing the curious to tune in...

Thank you, Mr. President.

why is top talk show host Lars Larson dumped like yesterday's pickled herring, if talk radio is not in a complete melt-down? The don't have enough audiance to support boring hound dog Fred Thompson?

I don't know that Lars Larsen is "top". Obama's rush to socialism is p***ing enough people off conservative talk radio is having a resurgence.

"that was Bob..guy who had demons calling into his show and always sounded like he was about to have a stroke."

What ever happened to ol Bob Larsen? Haven't run across his name nor heard him on the air since the 80s.

Larson was a huckster, using his "religious" show to fleece money out of listeners to pay for his Aspen vacation home.

Rarely did he do a show on his Talkback radio program where he wasn't threatening to take the show off an affiliate because the listeners hadn't contributed enough for Bob's excessive greed.

Do a web search on him. See how those stations often covered their bills and that Bob was exagerating things to rake more cash in.
