Lafayette Radio Partners flip 106.7 from oldies to Country Legends

As I was arriving in Lafayette this morning, I tuned to 106.7, and instead of "KOOL" I heard country legends. El Flippo of this one again. Now this market is oversaturated with Country and Urban. No oldies, and no classic rock. At least Eagle 98.1 can be heard here!

Wow! Really?

They just flipped to the KOOL format this past November. Only 3 months - why the sudden change?

I heard the new format this morning also, I was surprised. An AM in Ville Platte has been doing Classic Country for a couple of years now and still does not show up in the ratings, go figure.

Kahuna, the Ville Platte station doesn't show up as it's signal isn't very healthy outside of Evangeline Parish and I know is unlistenable to average listeners in say Carencro.

But yes, I'm finding oldies in the matter of the last say 5 years become a AM radio format (where older generation demo formats basically go to roost or die) as many of the demo are either moved up to classic hits, a classic hit leaning oldies station or moved to AM radio

RFLA

A friend of mine who lives near Seattle told me oldies is all over the dial on AM in that area. In fact most of their AM stations play music. A push for music on AM here seems to be going on as well.

I suppose the PTB (Powers That Be) are forcing those of us who want an Oldies station to listen to CD's or satellite radio...
