Laquidara nominated for Radio Hall of Fame

via r-i's start page

>>Nominees announced for the 2010 National Radio Hall of Fame...Charles Laquidara, who did mornings on Boston’s WBCN for more than 30 years, leading the “Big Mattress” show...Online balloting for this year’s National Radio Hall of Fame opens on June 14 and remains open through August 1
(Steve Dahl, Ralph Emery, Gary Burbank are the competitors)

So after the Howie Carr stuff the ballot box fiasco, after which Dumont promised changes to the process, the song pretty much remains the same.

I will be voting for Chuck, because he deserves to be there

I think Dahl "ran" against Howie a yr or 2 ago and is "running" again; Howard Stern is also a repeat "nominee" IIRC. Voting for Charles.

He definitley belongs in the HOF. No reason he should have to wait. It still makes me sad that my father didn't make it in until after he passed away......

Michael in the grand scheme of things the NRHOF is not so significant compared to the people who listened to him, and until his dying day told him how great he was, how he got them too and from work, etc etc etc.

That stuff is priceless and better than any award.

Is there a web site that lists, and perhaps gives a short bio of, the existing members?

It was such a joke that Dumont was hinting at changes to the process, including having to be a paying member of the NRHOF to vote, but as we can see, that has never come about.

"

So if you are nominated in the active categories, like Howie was, you beg, plead, bribe or otherwise mobilize your listeners to vote.

(Moderators I claim far use of this edited press release from 2008 for discussion purposes)

In prior years, voting on the annual nominations was open to the general public only if individuals were members of the Museum of Broadcast Communications (home of the National Radio Hall of Fame), or became new online members by payment of a $15 fee. A change in the voting process for 2008 enabled the general public to vote for nominees online without joining the Museum.

The very nature of radio often creates large numbers of fans devoted to their favorite personalities, and the number of votes cast in 2008 increased significantly. The change in the voting process was not designed to make membership to the broadcasting shrine a mere popularity contest. As is common when any procedures are modified, the National Radio Hall of Fame will re-evaluate the voting and nominating processes for future elections.

He was the greatest DJ I've ever had the pleasure to listen to, especially Dwayne Ingals Glascock, how do I vote? Charles had a wicked sense of humor.,

Has Dave Maynard ever been considered for the Hall of Fame?
