larry the cable guy has his own show on the history channel

I'm not a fan of Larry the Cable Guy but his show being on History doesn't really bother me. Ice Road Truckers, Ax Men, Swamp People, and any other shows like those three does bother me. They seem way out of place there.

what happened to nitch programing on cable tv?

we have history channel shows like those.battlestar galactia on bbc america. i saw fear factor on syfy one day.they have wrestling ,which i like but it is out of place on syfy, and fewer and fewer science fiction shows also on syfy.

As a history major in college personally I don't find Larry the Cable Guy, Ice Road Truck Drivers, and guys looking to buy antiques belonging on the History Channel.

There have been a number of historical movies and documentaries made over the years that would be a perfect fit for the History Channel. Why these programs are not on the air remains a question I've asked myself after seeing numerous repeats of Hitler.

Years ago CBS carried an excellent show on WWI with Robert Ryan as narrator is one example of a show I would love to see the History Channel carry. The BBC version is okay but has been repeated to death.

Maybe I just dislike seeing a cable channel designed for certain programming vary from that format.
It's like having opera music featured on VH1. Or unbiased news on FOX.

Now why would they move a show around. Why...why...why. Oh, right, because it's been publicly reported that it improved its time period ratings more than 85%. Average of more than two and a half million viewers, a big number for History.

Oh, those pesky little facts. How they get in the way of another bran-muffin-deprivation rant.

State who publicly reported that. I know that Pawn Stars and Ax Men get great ratings (and IRT will do well), but never saw anything about Toothless Joe the Cable Guy doing so well. If he did, you'd think that they'd establish the franchise. You know, like Discovery does with Deadliest Catch or like History does with PS. You'd think so......

Or perhaps, they think it's such a "great" show but can't find a suitable timeslot for it to get any ratings. Again, not unlike NBC's pushing of Joey as the heir apparent to Friends. With any luck, Larry will be on his way back to the NASCAR speedway soon.

By the way, I prefer donuts myself - hate bran muffins. That's for the Starbucks crowd. ;D

The mere fact you haven't heard something doesn't render it untrue, or unreported. Nor does it make me responsible for doing your homework for you. :) That's what "the google" is for, isn't it? :D

You tried to suggest there were no facts. Facts were provided, so, not surprisingly, now comes the utterly meaningless comparisons and illogical spinning. Multiple airings of the show do establish the franchise as you word it. A second season has been ordered....sure sounds like a franchise.

He's neither your nor my choice, but that means approximately nothing. Ratings up, a large audience by historical standards=a successful business move..and the epitome of capitalism.
