Mobile Late Tim Camp's wife Sloane P left WZEW, Mr. Rooney's Confiscated Cassettes ended after nearly 4 years.

Sloane P, a wife of the late ZNEW/WSNP general manager Tim Camp had left The Sound of Mobile which caused the cancelation of a daily radio show "Mr. Rooney's Confiscated Cassettes" which dedicated to 1980s music after almost 4 years and nightly program "92 New" to go hostless.

Mr. Rooney's Confiscated Cassettes was a daily (except Sunday) radio show that plays music from the 1980s which was like a hour version of 80s on 8. She did a great job starting the show to honor Le Ann, the late ex-wife of Tim. After Tim passed away, she honored both of them. The show ended before WZEW switched to all Christmas music on Christmas eve and Christmas day.

Her departure from WZEW left 92 Zew hostless.

After Mr. Rooney's sudden cancelation, regular music format took over its slot.

Catt Sirten (founder of WZEW and host of Sunday Jazz Brunch from 1984 to 2013) and Tim Camp's unfortunate passing must have to be the reason. More information right there https://radiodiscussions.com/threads/charles-tim-camp-owner-of-wzew-wnsp-passes-away.778009/

It seems like the stations have been struggling for the past several years, both with the loss of longtime personnel, technical issues, and financial difficulties. I really hope they can hang on since these stations are a jewel in the local marketplace after iHeart puts out more of the same with less and less every year, and Cumulus just sort of being "there" with nothing more to add, as well...

If I were independently wealthy, I'd work for Zew for free. Then again, I did start a station loosely based on Zew in North Alabama. I still listen to Zew often online (as I worked for WAVH/WZEW in college 99-2000). This was before .com took over, but still, loved the format, loved the music, worked REALLY well for me since I was completely burned out on classic rock after listening to that nonstop pretty much from 88-98.

Noticed Pablo is back on air, Tony has moved to evenings (voicetracked?), I know they moved from midtown to new studios over by the interstate. Wasn't sure if that was due to rent increases or non-renewal of the lease. When I worked for them they were in the festival center...
