LatinX 103.7 Merrimack Valley, Red Sox in Spanish

RadioBusiness report mentions the X in Latinx stands for Gen X. Spanish language Urban contemporary but some songs in English.

97.7 is in HD?? They could put it on 101.7 if they wanted to.
98.9 in Salem, NH is still broadcasting it's "Valley 98.9" brand that was fed via AM 1110 WMVX. WMVX assumed a Spanish language News/Talk format that was moved over from AM 1490 WCCM, yet 98.9 is still broadcasting the English Langauge "Valley" (Classic Hits?) format. This doesn't have anything to do with Rumba or iHeart Radio. But, as 98.9 is a translator, it has to be fed from somewhere. Just not sure what is feeding it?

I think the 102.9 simulcast of Power 800 is in HD and has at least one subchannel in HD--maybe there.
WZRM 97.7 is indeed on HD but I don't know if they are using subchannels

WZRM 97.7 does not appear to be using any subchannels.
I believe the HD3 channel of the 102.9 FM translator of “Power 800” in Lawrence is running the “Big” oldies format that was on 1570 AM/105.3 FM before those went programmed by K-Love Christian.
Not to be confused with the “Big” adult hits format on WBGB 103.3.

It will be interesting to know whether Valley 98.9 is now on one of the 102.9 HD subs. Apparently it won’t be legal for that to be the “source” of 98.9 though. So either it has no source at all or no legitimate one.

I just went out to the car and tried to get the tuner to find HD on 102.9 but no go....

I'll be in out and about in the morning I'll check as I get over by 93/495

the funny thing is I am inside the local predicted coverage area with some room to spare, the HD's should have lit up

Right just the HD1. For a time under Entercom (now Audacy) ownership they may have put
WEEI-FM on the HD2.
Most iHeart FMs in town have just an HD2 but
WZLX has an HD2 (WRKO) and an HD3 (K-Love--said to be from the WUBG 1570/105.3 not the
WKVB 107.3)
WJMN has Black Info on HD2.
WBWL has Pride Radio on HD2
WXKS-FM has WBZ Newsradio on HD2

Waiting for a return call from Ms. Metros up/over at Eagle/Costa.

I'm sure she is going to be thrilled about some old radio guy questioning her on where they are getting the programing for the translator from...

So looking at the Costa-Eagle website, something is confusing me.

They say "Big 105.3" is on the translator up behind the old Malden Hospital, but in reality it is LMA'd to K-Love so I assume there is an AM involved too... anyone know the source AM station?

They say there is a HD-2 on 102.9 which is "New England Talks / Fox news (www.netalks.net) but the HD-2 was not on when I was within a mile of their transmitter at 8:00 AM today.

Valley 98.9, the translator in Windham on the big tower you can see over by Exit 3 , which is supposed to be fed by the now LMA'd to someone else 1100 AM over off Brady Ave in Salem NH is getting. AM 1100 is no longer the source for 98.9

I thought a translator had to be fed by another station, and if that is the case where is Valley 98.9 getting the source programming?

1490 feeds 103.7?

800 feeds 102.9

1100 no longer feeds 98.9

105.3 gets a K-Love from ?

98.9 gets its programming from?

As of 2 PM, the 98.9 translator was identifying as "W255DA, WMVX Salem". Meanwhile, I flipped over to AM and WMVX was in Spanish. The 102.9 translator does indeed have a very weak HD2 on the air (about 1/10 as strong as the HD1, with lots of dropouts) and it's also broadcasting "Valley 98.9". I doubt the 102.9 HD2 can be heard for more than a few thousand feet: I drove past the tower and medium sized bushes were making it drop out.

That is unusual…all HD channels from 1 to 3 use the same data stream, and is thus the same strength. What varies can be the audio bandwidth as each can be assigned an appropriate amount of the total.
