Of a full power signal, yes, but a HD subchannel of another translator?Yes. Or HD4, also.

103.3 HD3 used to often not come in as well on many radios as the HD1 and HD2. I think it was something called "extended hybrid" mode that caused the problem, from what I was told. Last time I checked, that one was now working better and covering more like the 1 and 2.That is unusual…all HD channels from 1 to 3 use the same data stream, and is thus the same strength. What varies can be the audio bandwidth as each can be assigned an appropriate amount of the total.
HD4’s are the extended hybrid. One, two and three are all the same stream.103.3 HD3 used to often not come in as well on many radios as the HD1 and HD2. I’m not sure what the issue is or was, but I know several other people on here and elsewhere experienced it. It is/was the same with 104.1.HD4’s are the extended hybrid. One, two and three are all the same stream.
That would be one strange loophole. I wouldn't know why someone else hadn't done so if it was allowed. When I first read the story, I assumed Valley 98.9 was gone and 98.9 was broadcasting the Spanish News format now on AM 1110. When I heard it still broadcasting "Valley", that's when I question how it was being fed. Wasn't there a translator in either Houston or El Paso that launched with an all Selena format that wasn't being fed by AM or HD-2/HD-3? What happened with that?Of a full power signal, yes, but a HD subchannel of another translator?

I live on the North Shore and I was having trouble getting 103.3 HD3 "The Cove"103.3 HD3 used to often not come in as well on many radios as the HD1 and HD2. no HD at all on 102.9Home | NEtalks.net I haven't been back near to the antenna to see if this is actually on the air on 102.9 HD2
I’ve been told that another analog translator for a HD subchannel of a translator is not permitted, but don’t have any exact evidence to back this up. Maybe someone else can provide it.no HD at all on 102.9
Which is why I question the legality of Valley 98.9's programming now that the AM is in Spanish
In theory they could run Valley 98.9 from a 102.9 HD2 or 3
There is HD on 102.9, found it on my portable HD Radio last night. Not sure if Valley is one of the HD-2/3/4 stations. I believe that WMEX is one. Barely use the portable unit, and bought it when WBCN went to 98.5 HD-2 and 100.7 HD-3 (free form). Poor quality compared to in car HD Radios, which I don't have. Yet, I agree. I don't think HD on a translator is legal to feed another translator. I could see many big companies doing that if it was.no HD at all on 102.9

Perhaps that was what I was hearing. Thanks for the clarification.I don't think WMEX is on an HD channel up there. If you're hearing oldies/classic hits, I know that 102.9 was running the former "Big 105.3" oldies/classic hits format on one of its HD channels that used to be on 1570 AM/105.3 FM before it went "K-Love".
I only know of one station in the Boston/Eastern New England area that tried running an HD4 briefly years ago, I think it was 104.1 in Boston. They ran the new age talk "Psychic Radio" and "Sky Network" on it. The bandwidth was so poor that reception on my radio was either all broken up or all chopped up (or maybe even both at once) just a few miles line of sight of the Pru. transmitter.HD4’s are the extended hybrid.
