New Technology affecting reporters?

Hmmm. They let several reporters go, at least two photographers, several people who work on the floor, an executive producer, a receptionist and people in the sales department. Those "changes in Technology" must be amazing!

Kumar, Lee out as layoffs hit CBS Sacramento O&O's

The Sacramento Bee's Rachel Leibrock (filling in on the media beat for regular Sam McMannis) has had her hands full trying to get info on the layoffs that began Thursday at CBS owned KOVR (13) Stockton and KMAX (31) Sacramento.

See story here:
http://www.sacbee.com/entertainment/story/819343.html

Leibrock says the station's boss Bruno Cohen confirmed that two reporters - Reggie Kumar and Kristina Lee - were among those laid off by the station Thursday... but he wouldn't detail other layoffs.

The Bee broke the story Thursday:

Compared to other local sactown stations these guys were running people-heavy even w/ a duopoly. I'm sure the memo came down with a headcount goal and the term "non-essential" somewhere. Must have been a really tough day for the GM, he is a really nice and down to earth person - somehow lacking that ego that a lot of GMs walk around with...
