Lee Cagle gets PD job at 97.1/The River, on top of B98.5 duties

Lee Cagle, who lost his PD job at 95.5/The Beat when that station disappeared last year, maintained his B98.5 PD job and provided help to Murph Dawg & CJ on their new syndicated show. He now has PD duties at 97.1/The River.

Here's the press release:

CAGLE PROMOTED TO PROGRAM DIRECTOR AT
COX MEDIA GROUP’S WSRV-FM 97.1FM THE RIVER

ATLANTA – March 16, 2011 – Cox Media Group announced today that Cagle has been named program director of WSRV 97.1 The River effective March 17, 2011. He will continue in his role of program director for WSB-FM B98.5FM.

Cagle has more than 20 years of experience in the radio industry, having served in various programming positions at KKYK Little Rock, B97 New Orleans, KQKS Denver, KXHT Memphis, KPAT Santa Maria and Wild 106 San Luis Obispo. The River has never struck me as the type of station that takes a tremendous amount of effort to program.

Again, River and B98.5 strike me as a pair of Jack and Jill, male and female-oriented adult stations. One with male-oriented music and one with female-oriented music. Besides that, you could program them exactly the same way, outside of drivetimes when you have differing personality needs.

I wonder if caller10 will start sampling The River as a result of this move... ::)

I had the chance to work with Cagle at KPAT, the beat still exsist and has become a popular station in the central coast, he brougt me in as the stations first mix show dj and Cagle set a format at the beat that still exsist, this while maintaning wild 106 at the same time... Props to Cagle, he deserves the promotion..
