LEFTY NET OFF WLIB

THE liberal Air America radio network is going to be harder to hear in New York.

Next month, it is switching stations - to a weaker AM station, WWRL (1600 AM).

Al Franken and his lefty colleagues are leaving WLIB (1190 AM) apparently because they couldn't come up with enough cash for the owners, former Manhattan Borough President Percy Sutton and his son, Pierre.

I don't care how much power WWRL has. At 1600 - 'fer-get-about-it". At least in SEA the signal is OK. 1090 suffers much at night but the daytime is metro-adequate. This format would seem to be dynamite in the anti-Bush attitude of the day, but seems to only thrive in predicable pockets of America. Another radio mystery, much like why LA has ONE country station and it has yet to break a 3 share. Go figure...
 
The WLIB deal with Randy Michaels apparently is kaput. Is the WWRL-1600 deal set in stone? If not, maybe AAR could stay on 1190!
