At the 7:25am newsbreak with Adam Webster this morning, Bruce Palmer mentioned that Dave O'Gara (from Oldies 98-9, also the home of Adam Webster) was in the studio and that Dave would be filling in for him the rest of the week. That's fantastic. Rarely do I get to listen to Oldies 98-9 (the signal doesn't reach very far) and I'm nowhere near the signal (or a computer) when Dave is on his normal shift (9am to 4ish).
It will be good to hear him and I would think it would give Dave some exposure to new and former listeners who, quite honestly, don't even know he's still on the air. Speaking of which, this is Dave's 40th year in radio. Quite the achievement.
The Pike morning show lasts until 10am. Dave normally starts his 98-9 shift at 9am. What will be interesting is if he is on both at the same time during that hour and if both are live or if he VT's the first hour of 98-9 (or the last hour of The Pike). Or does both live between songs and commercials. Adam Webster mentioned that he (Adam) is off tomorrow so Dave may be alone tomorrow morning unless they bring in someone to do the news updates live.
