Legendary Durham radio personality "Country Boy" dead at 82

Sorry, I couldn't read this..I don't like the idea of a link that I have to register with the newspaper to read the article.

Cuuuuntry Boyyy! Anyone who had a radio in Durham in the 50s, 60s, or 70s couldn't miss that. I know the Herald-Sun's got a copyright on this story, but this audience respects Mr. Cook too much to not hear the news. Plus, I don't think the N&O has mentioned this yet....a big miss. Here ya go--minus the picture that I couldn't paste.

Durham radio personality “Country Boy” Charles Cook has died at age 82. He entertained listeners for almost 50 years. He is described by his son as being an humble man.

I worked with CB for a couple of years back in the 70's. He was one of the best in the business...not flashy, just a good radio personality. He always made jokes about his wife, Luna Belle...he often called her Luna-Tic on the air. He began every show he did with the "rebel yell", and ended the show saying, "...mind the CHICK-ens and the YOUNG-uns...BYE!!"

He will be remembered well.

Later...
