Here's why there are so many. Local radio (miniature wgn's in small towns) is quite dead.

Brokering is a way that owners, with only business degrees and no programming skill - can make a good (serve a public need) , reliable (my boss used to say, "If they show up without the money, don't let them on.) , fast (lots of brookers pay cash) way to run things with only a board op at the helm. NO demanding loudmouth salespeople or announcers, therefore LOWER expenses.

I am not sure if nextmedia will broker time on the weekends but if they do you can add:

WJOB might be willing to broker at 1230. I don't know. It is basically every station thats not a major player in Chicago at this point.

I have heard brokered shows on WJOB in the past. I believe they still have brokered religious programs on Sundays.

Another station that brokers time is AM 1470, some of the shows they have are simulcast with their sister station
AM 1240, but, there are some shows that air exclusively on AM 1470.

Another station that brokers religious airtime most of the day is AM 1570 WBGX in Harvey, as well as 102.3 FM
WYCA in Crete.

I believe you're right about WCPT.

I don't believe the "specialty programs" on wgn are brokered. I think the host is paid as a trade for mentioning his law practice, veterinary practice, etc. Believe me, having that on wgn would get them plenty of business.
