No need to buy a problematic, expensive HD Radio just to hear all those HD programs. No HD Radio offers this much choice.

Cool. Let me buy a $500 computer and pay a monthly ISP fee so that I can listen to stuttering streaming audio at my desk. I want to go upstairs...but wait! Can't take my radio there!

Who doesn't have a computer and ISP ! Gosh, I could spend $300 on a lousy HD radio that requires a 7-foot dipole antenna (wouldn't that be portable). Yea, I go upstairs to my computrer and listen to AOL Radio for free, while I post. iBiquity gets part of that outrageous $300 !

Right...just like when you buy your computer, you're paying licensing fees to third parties. Just about anything you buy does that. At least with iBiquity it's up front and done, unloike the lifetime payments you want us to make.

Keep trying...you might win someday!

And, you spent $600 for garbage terrestrial radio ! :D

And you want us to spend $200-$400 a year on bad streaming audio! ;D

It is no where that much - hell I could get Internet Radio as an option on my plan, for little as $200/month - nad the bit rate is much higher ! And, you spent $600 on HD radios, just to get garbage terrestrial radio.

Hmmm...I make a one time payment, and get close to CD quality sound (you wouldn't know since you've never heard HD). Meanwhile, you're stuck with monthly payments and are tethered to your computer.

Let's see...one time cost, or recurring fees? Simple to use radio, or software on a computer? Yeah, the choice is pretty obvious. Streaming audio is not the HD killer.

Keep using that "garbage terretrial radio" line...it's funny coming from a DX'er that hasn't heard any programming on HD2. If terrestrial radio is such garbage, why are you ranting so much about protecting it from the big bad IBOC? See, you don't even know why you're ranting anymore! You just fight for the sake of fighting. How pathetic.

Sounds like you're not the smartest tool in the shed. Of course, I guess I'm just stating the obvious here. ;D

Oh God, here we go again - most people have a computer and ISP and monthly payments - I just happen to be luckly enough to have AOL and AOL Radio is free. You my buddy, are out $600 for two garbage HD Receptor HD radios (and it is ugly too, no offense) - all that wasted on garbage terrestrial AM/FM radio, Jesus ! From what I heard (and didn't hear) in Best Buy, you can have it !

"(and it is ugly too, no offense)"

You sir are child like. Ugly? What a stupid, ignorant comment. The only ugly thing around here are your ignorant comments.

I hope you realize that nothing bothers me, including you - actually, I am getting a kick out of making you all respond to my threads ! :D

Right. And most people sit at their computer to listen to the radio. Aside from the fact that "most people have a computer and internet connection" is simply not true, you're tied to the computer...period.

Wow, you think the Receptor is ugly. Well, that settles it! Nobody will buy one now that a ranting IBOC hater thinks it's ugly! Wow! I'm guessing that BA is running back to the design department now! :D

As for being out $600? I can afford it. I'm enjoying the heck out of them, too. There's some great HD-2's out there!

My, I feel bad for you. Now all you have for an argument is that the radio is ugly. Sad.

Yes they do, yes they do ! This is VERY entertaining ! :D

Yes, they really should ! Jesus, a cloth speaker and a box - what are we, back in the 1960's ?

Nah, I don't want you to die. I have too much fun watching you squirm.

I have my beautiful receptor right near my computer so I can listen to HD radio while on my PC, doing this way I don't hear any "sounds" from my computer while multitasking.

I wish i could post a picture of it for all to see!

1-Your computer gets thousands more digital stations and formats then your HD Radio does, including streams from most HD stations accross the country, and even more stations from around the world. Not just a few local HD Radio stations.
2-You are already paying for a computer and internet connection. Nothing extra to buy. Truely free (unlike HD Radio).
3-Computer streams are much more reliable then short range, intermittent, rebuffering, reverting to analog, HD Radio.
4-Your Boston Acoustics HD Receptor is as tied down as your computer, with power brick, 2 antennas, power line, and often spotty reception.
5-Computers with internet connections are not subject to to indoor signal attenuation and multipath. HD Radio's drop digital packets and mute or fold back to analog when subjected to multipath or interference.
6-Computers can get the HD Radio streams at night from AM's all over the country.
7-Many computers have sub-woofers and better audio amps and speakers then the BA HD Receptor, some even have 5.1 surround sound, graphic equalizers, and effects using a free Winamp player or equal.
8-You can record and save digital HD webstreams to your hard drive, MP3 player, or CD burner.
9-Higher quality streams at higher bitrates and even 5.1 surround sound are available on the internet using the same AAC Plus codec HD Radio uses.
10-With a computer you can listen to digital HD quality audio in the suburbs, outside the city grade signal contour, or in concrete or steel reinforced buildings.
11-Almost unlimited program choices are available from the internet, and podcasts, while with HD Radio your choices are limited to local stations with frequent format flips and controlled by the whims of nearby broadcasters.
12-Many Sirius and XM stations are streaming on the net, and are available free.
And that is just for starters.

I don't know if it is the "HD Killer" but it will be a force to be reckoned with. Most people who use the Internet don't look at streaming audio as an added expense. They have an Internet connection for other purposes, and the fact that audio or video can be easily sent over it is just icing on the cake. Once you have the computer and connection, there is no additional cost. There are stand-alone wireless Internet radios coming very shortly. The first one I heard of was called "Kerbango." That was several years ago. It failed because it answered a question that nobody had asked, and high-speed Internet connections were hard to come by. The availability of high-speed connections has greatly improved. You'll see more of these radios.

Internet radio is actually predicted to become a very significant factor in the next few years, assuming RIAA or NAB doesn’t do something to screw it up. I wouldn't rule out that possibility. Streaming audio does work, and it is quite reliable. Right now I'm in Oslo, Norway, listening to the station I manage on a free wireless Internet connection. It sounds pretty good too...

It's true that truly portable Internet delivered radio is not available in your car without going to extraordinary means, but that will change with time. I guess I just don't feel the urgency to "go digital" on the broadcast bands, simply because you can. I'm in no hurry. Why is everyone else in such a rush?

Oh, I forgot. Money.....
