Listening to UK radio outside of the UK.

Hello Everyone,

I live in the United States and I miss listening to UK radio. I know you can change your firefox proxy settings so that your computer thinks you are in the UK. Is it a good idea to mess with my proxy settings? as I know nothing about proxy settings. Would someone be kind enough to walk me through how to change my firefox proxy settings so that I can get UK streams. I am visualy impaired so I will need a step by step walk through as shown below :)

1. Open Firefox
2. Click on 'example x'
3. Click on 'example y'
4. Change 'setting a'
5. Change 'setting b'


There may be more than five steps or there may be less; above was just an example of the guidence I will need; if someone can help it will be greatly appreciateted.

It's very easy, I do this to watch the BBC & ITV (when it's not working on TV Ants or other similar programs)

1. Find a site with UK Proxy server lists and either print it out, write them out or open another Firefox browser window.
2. Click on tools.
3. Click on Options.
4. You will see a set of options at the top, all the way on the right is "Advanced"
5. There will be 4 tabs below, click on "Network"
6. You will see "Connections", to the right click on "Settings".
7. You will now see 3 options, make a note of what button is currently checked as after you are done you'll need to undo this by clicking back on it, click on the 3 option labeled "Manual Proxy Configuration"
8. Most proxies you'll use for this are HTTP, so fill in the address and port under "HTTP Proxy" and "Port"
9. Click "OK" each time until all options windows have closed.

If the proxy works you'll be able to connect to British websites appearing as though you are in the UK, if not, repeat these steps until you do, as many times these servers do change without notice and there are other little issues from time to time, but I usually have no problems this way.

As proxies are a much slower method of connection than regular, you'll want to be able to switch back to normal from time to time. To restore your Firefox browser to it's original settings follow steps 1-7 clicking on the original option (usually "No Proxy"). One good thing about Firefox is, even after unchecking the proxy and going back to original settings, the proxy info is kept in those fields and can be checked again without having to fill it in over and over like another program I can think of, making the whole process take under 15 seconds once you find a reliable server.
 
I'm sorry, I just went to re-read that and noticed that I missed the part about being visually impaired the first time, I think the directions will still work, but I did use wording like "you will see", let me know if the directions don't work and which parts have problems, and I'll try to reword it.
