Good point you make. "Lite 102.9" in its present form started in 1993. 104.7 dates back longer but has had more changes.Mike Sheridan said:Actually 104.7 has been a Charlotte station and some form of A/C a lot longer than 102.9. As EZ-104 it has been A/C since the early '80's. I guess there was a time when the station went a little harder edged as Star 104.7 but that didn't last long.
102.9 didn't even have a Charlotte signal till the late '80's when it was moved from Hickory.

WTHZ was 80 to 90 miles away and pulled 2 shares in the money demos. That should tell somebody something and we're seeing more and more of the "classic hits" stations grown across the country. The attempt of the new AM station, Z730, to crack the market is really a fine effort but feel they are way out of their league. What they need is somebody to guide them and help them get on track.
lizluke said:as radio people, we hear the "small market" stuff--the average listener is only thrilled that oldies music is back on the air...so why not get behind this and support it? the kinks will work themselves out; and even big guys like cbs and cc have had major tech glitches, put unseasoned talent on the air to save money, and generally acted like they were "small market" in order to save a buck! i say we radio vets band together and support each other's efforts to put real radio back on the airwaves and boot the corporate machines out of the industry!
