LIVE 105 goes 100% listener controlled via the internet M-F 8PM -MID. "THE FREE FOR ALL" POWERED BY: Jelli hosted by: white menace puts the music in the hands of listeners in real time! visit: Jelli.net for more info )

Yeah. Who needs people to run a radio station when you can just let your audience choose what they want to hear?

If you can't beat the iPod, turn your station into an iPod.

fm100fan check it out for yourself its the real deal.

Not all that different from the old "All Request Friday Night" that Videa used to run.

and NOT all that different from the old "Total Request Zone" show that the now defunct Z95.7
used to do!

You might not understand "FREE FOR ALL" M-F on LIVE 105 is 100% user-controlled radio℠, enabling users to take over a radio station using their web browsers. Leveraging the power of the web to reinvent traditional broadcasting, FREE FOR ALL empowers the community to interact with the broadcast in real-time and determine dynamically what plays on the air.

... in other words, when the song comes up on the pre-determined playlist, uploaded days in advance by Michael Martin, NOW the announcer will say "This one requested by [email protected]"!

Yeah, I'm cynical.

HAHA not even! It's like pulling up my AV on your web browser and controlling it.

Still begs the question...is there a belief that people are participating because they want to hear their name on the air, or because they choose to have the radio station/other listeners create their playlist rather the using their iPod or Pandora?

It's more about the listeners choosing the music thats about to be played on-air.

Maybe Brian will stay late one night and let me in to watch this in action. I gotta see the board-op's UI...

Just how would it be "illegal?"

They're still selecting from a pool of pre-screened tracks that are airplay legal, there's no FCC rules against something like Jelli.

Yeah, it's not like people can upload their own MP3's and have them played over the air, or anything like that, is it?

No you can not upload Mp3's.

Just got to Jelli.net and check it out for yourself. It runs 24 hours but only on LIVE 105 for 4 hours

Yeah, I'll eat my hat when KITS plays MY listener request: The Light Crust Doughboys performing that country hit, "***** ***** *****" from 1935. http://beemp3.com/download.php?file=6179944&song=*****+*****+***** or perhaps Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys doing "Big Balls in Cowtown" from the 1940s.

I wanna be EMPOWERED!

No doubt because Pete was getting Announcer pay scale, and JMenace is getting webmaster/street team pay scale. Gotta love corporate radio...
Well, I guess they gotta pay for Fernando & Greg somehow...
