LIVE 105 goes 100% listener controlled via the internet M-F 8PM -MID

if live 105's ratings are in the toilet it they'd probably flip it to oldies, or some other format that would do well in the ppm world. well since we have movin....... its not going to be a top 40

Still begs the question...is there a belief that people are participating because they want to hear their name on the air, or because they choose to have the radio station/other listeners create their playlist rather the using their iPod or Pandora?

The way I understand it, listeners vote. Music is by "community" vote. It is not something for individual listeners, but more along the lines of the most requested, which begs a question about stiffs or forgotten 45s and how many people know them or request them. If the author of the thread is seeking listeners and participants that's okay. It seems to be an untenable situation in which the heat is being placed on the jock to build the station. Someone doesn't get it over there, however.

Is it weird that I had a dream that Live 105 flipped to Top 40? I know their sister station is Top 40, but look, if you move the Movin format to 105.3, bring the AMP or NOW name along (throw a couple of dance tracks in to please the Pulse crowd), and move the classic hits or JACK format to 99.7 it wouldn't be a bad idea.

OR you could scratch the above and put an end to that simulcast of KCBS on 106.9 and have a JACK or classic hits station on there.

For the record, I love Live 105, and stream it everyday. I just worry about this station, I also wonder what keeps CBS from flipping KITS? Is it because there really is no competition? Is the station billing well?

It would be sad if they jacked it. I have no idea why CBS keeps Live 105 afloat. I mean they killed hfs and wcbn. Those were okay stations. Channel is looking to be the indie 103 reincarnate of SF and its pretty rad so far. The fact that I cant listen to normal pete mar radio at nighs now irks me on weekdays.

Sigh. I dont think the station would bill nearly as well as movin or KCBS AM (duh). The ratings have worsened since there's no woody, madden etc.

Oh Live 105 Cie la vie. So musicfan101 whats your fave radio station? locally, id have to say channel these days

I live in L.A., my favorite stations WERE Indie 103.1 or 97.1 FM Talk! Kinda sad they killed both within a month of each other.

Now I don't have one, it's a toss up between 98.7 or KROQ. But, whenever I'm in SF I do the same, I tune into 92.3 or Live 105. But the thing kills me is wondering if Clear Channel has seen the numbers for Channel 92.3?!?

used to bill very well... ive heard the billing has gone way down this past year and not just due to the economy. the only way a station can stay alive with bad ratings is if it bills well. the future is lookin pretty grim for live 105...

I had the dream I've had every couple of months for the past 15 years: I go to the Post Office in the town where I lived until 15 years ago, and in the box are all of these unfinished contracts awarded to the company I owned until 14 years ago when I moved to another state. I panic as I realize that the key to the box still works, I have 14 years of box rentals due, and then proceed to start work on one of the contracts. When I arrive near to the place assigned in the contract I pulled at random, a place of utter desolation, as the contract places usually were, I approach a bridge that I know leads to a steep drop. I also know that since I already crossed the bridge from the other side, climbing long and hard in low gear from the other side to reach the pinnacle, and that I must never approach that bridge again, the contracts will not be fulfilled. I turn the car around and come back home.

Then I awoke, and cogitated about the dream as I always do, recognizing that I left nothing undone - not even an affidavit or court appearance. LOL

Uh-oh, but I'm wondering if CBS is just keeping KITS alive only because the other alternative station is doing worse than they are? I guess CBS/SF feels they have the upper hand? Menace answer my questions!

Live 105 is just a shell of it's former self...They were at their best from around '86 to '95

It's been downhill since Sands left and the lineup of Bennett, Hamilton, Stuart, Masters, and West departed. The Axelsen years have been really weak

Bring Back Richard Sands! That's what I sez...

i heard they tried that a few years ago.. he said no way.

Come to think of it, probably a good decision on his part. Back in the Entercom days he was beholden to no-one as a programmer. Under CBS he'd have layers of programming suits breathing down his neck.

I still love how Jelli radio only has less than 30 people in the chat room all the time and the potential cume of live 105 is 600,000?

Participation of Jelli reaches less than 0.01% of listeners.

NO mobile platform, texting, etc
you are better with an all request hour like flashback lunch kroq style
that would make sense

just like i said earlier... it alienates most of the listening audience.. how many people you know listen to the radio while at a computer??? most are in their car. this is a good idea in theory, but a bad idea in a ppm ratings world... dont worry welovepetemar it wont last, and hopefullty whitemenace will be back to doing other things at the station and we wont have to listen to his ******yness....
