Live Stage Productions of 'The Brady Bunch', 'Cheers'

Theater audiences will soon get to see the story of what happens when a lovely lady meets a man named Brady.

CBS Consumer Products has partnered with creator Sherwood Schwartz’s family on a comedic musical stage show based on his sitcom “The Brady Bunch.” The play will feature a new story, but will still focus on the original characters from the sitcom about a happy band of stepsiblings and their newly married parents. Schwartz’s children, Lloyd J. Schwartz and Hope Juber, wrote the book. Juper wrote the music with her husband, Wings guitarist Laurence Juber. Production dates are not yet available.

CBS is also bellying up to the bar for “Cheers Live on Stage,” a stage production that will showcase classic moments from the long-running sitcom that starred Ted Danson as often-troubled Boston bar owner Sam Malone. Stageworks Media is developing the production, which will be produced and distributed by Troika Entertainment and will be touring in 2016.

Perhaps this was inspired by "The Real Live Brady Bunch," a stage show from a decade ago with Jane Lynch as Carol. But that was more a parody than a tribute.
