Well how many years would you consider to be a break-even point for two companies hoping to profit from a subscription-only service that continues to operate in the red because they go after high priced material (hosts, sports packages, et al). If I am not mistaken, the original intention of Sat radio was to focus on music, especially stuff not aired on terra radio. But both companies changed their plan in the middle of the game. The talk of the merger has stalled sales of the Sat receivers, because potential customers are now unsure if the radios will still work after the merger is approved (which we all know is very unlikely, but the average Joe may not).
