Local TV News Bloopers (Past or Recent) You Actually Saw "As They Happened"

Re: Local TV News Bloopers (Past or Recent) You Actually Saw "As They Happened"

Harry Chapman, now retired from Newschannel 5 here in Nashville (although he still hosts a songwriters' program on their subchannel, Newschannel 5 plus (known as "the plus")) once had a nosebleed on the air while delivering the news! He was (obviously!) not able to finish the newscast, but they later said that he was okay.

This happened in Vancouver this week :)

Just because a word sounds adorable, that doesn't mean you should suggest doing it with the attractive weather girl. This news anchor learned that one the hard way after completely misunderstanding the word "canoodle" in the previous segment. His co-worker's reaction: priceless.

That's funny. The male anchor handled it well, but actually, the weather "girl" was right. "Canoodle" has 2 meanings - one is to cajole or flatter, but the other is to caress or fondle. And the weather anchor's name - Astrid Braunschmidt - a good one.

Not a blooper, but definitely a viral video: I happened to be watching Crossfire in 2004 during Jon Stewart's legendary appearance ("Stop hurting America").

Going back to topic-I didn't see all of them "as it happened", but I was watching some of Connie Thompson's mistakes [KOMO 4, before 11AM news was moved to 4.2] during the 11am news, and seriously, she should be fired. Search "Bumbling Anchor" on YouTube and you will see her, years ago, making mistake after missed line after mistake.

Connie is fine when she co-anchors the news with another anchor. She was not so good when she solo anchored. Of course, if you string anyone's mistakes together in a blooper video, then it's going to look much worse. That said, she is a Seattle institution and does a credible job of consumer reporting.
