lol the first few minutes of 93.1 WIBC seems to be a disaster already

LOL they started the id from WNAP the wrath of the buzzard ID into the Radio Indiana id then they put the delay on then after a couple seconds of ABC news. 93.1 managed to get into the hank FM feed then after bout 90 seconds it went back to ABC News. LOL Now add Hank FM Came back in briefly during the Local New brief. then before coast to coast and under coast to coast feed WIBC has Xmas music under neath it

They joined Coast to Coast, which was also playing a Christmas song when they joined in progress.

You'd think that with two months to get ready, they'd be a little better prepared for the switch. Maybe the
big-wigs in programming & engineering didn't want to have to come in to work through the holidays and left it to the overnight board op to figure out. :)

I meant to stay up to listen to it but I had to go to bed early

Anyway, how did the WEXM/93 Days of Christmas end? Was there a particularly "appropriate" song, or was there not much fanfare? Did anyone capture an aircheck of it? I'm curious if they let whatever was on WEXM play-out before launching into WIBC, or did the cut off WEXM to top-hour into WIBC, or was WEXM actually backtimed to make it smooth... it sounds like it was less than smooth to me...

And what about on the 1070 side... I'm really curious how they sequed from 1070 to 93.1 and if the sports started immediately on the 1070 side... anyone know?

"Home for the Holidays" (not sure on that title, but that was the chorus) was the final song on 93.1, then they made no fanfare on WIBC, going straight into Lamey's pregame of the Superbowl.

93.1 - with no fanfare other the new fm liner - signed on with USA network news, then local news, then, what sounded like a board op screwup, "chestnuts roasting" was joined in progress, but ended up being a special "Coast to Coast" christmas music special. So what sounded like a screwup was MORE christmas music from good ol' George.

You didn't miss anything grand with the switch. But I did record it for nostalgic sake anyway.

In the car this morning, the sound of WIBC FM was better than the AM of course.

Dave Wilson's show ended at 6pm on Christmas Eve..they did one more newscast, a Colts update with Bob Lamey...and that was it...they went to Christmas Music the rest of the night and all day on Christmas. Not much fanfare...other than whoever was doing the news (i think it was Stan Lehr) said "it just hits me it's the last time you'll hear us say it this way news radio 1070 WIBC"

WIBC had no fanfare, going straight into Lamey's pregame of the Superbowl.

93.1 went from Christmas music, straight into news.

I was listening to the switch from 93.1 to WIBC FM via the internet, so it was weird as it went into WIBC-AM, but when I logged off, then logged back on to 93.1 via internet - it went to the FM feed.

The feed they were providing for both WIBC AM and 93.1 before midnight were separate feeds, but at midnight, BOTH feeds went to WIBC-AM with Lamey. Had to log off, then log back on, and both streams went where they were suppose to.

So sorry if my previous post didn't make sense - i'm about 50/50 on that front.

Any chance you might be able to post an mp3 of the audio clip you recorded? I'm sure a number of us would be interested in hearing the transition as well.

I was listening at midnight, flipping between the AM and FM.

FM: Went dead air at midnight, came back on with a montage of former ID's, starting with WKLR jingle, into the "Wrath of the Buzzard, then WNOU, then a 2 second Chuck Riley to the "New" WIBC. I heard it twice, (the delay I didn't think of, but that nailed the repeated montage). They had a old news cast with Stan Lehr that they cut-off when it got to the weather, some more dead air, then C2C joined in progress. C2C was a Christmas Eve show from the night before, therefore the Christmas music. After that everything quieted down and ran great.

AM: DEAD AIR FOR 20 MINUTES!! Actually, a tone for 20 minutes. Then they joined the Super Bowl game from last year. It was like the FM was first priority, then the crew went to the AM to get that going. Only after the FM was running, did the AM get some TLC.

I might have missed some things on the FM, but 13 hours later and 460 miles, that is what I recall. I also noticed that the FM's HD readout changed to WIBC, while the AM's stayed on WIBC. Also the techs were playing with the stereo on the FM during the scramble. When I got home, the stereo light was off.

So, I'm listening to Garrison this morning on the "new, hip WIBC FM," which is going to attract a massive new younger audience, and there's this weird noise Greg makes on air, then gets back on mic to explain he had to reset his dentures! ;D

I was listening last night and heard the problems as well. I think that is probably to be expected when such a major change is taking place. Automation screws up from time to time when its running well, let alone if a whole new station is being brought on the air. It appears they fixed all their problems though and it is pumping through loud and clear.

the thing that will take some getting accustomed to will be "coast to coast am" without the am radio background noises.they added something (at least I think it did)to that particular program .

When was the last time you executed a flawless format change on a radio station? It's unfair of you to armchair quarterback any station's performance without knowing the technical particulars behind the move.

It's posts like this that make me not read these boards.

Kind of like readings some of the things you make up?

Those are ALWAYS positive , right?
