Looking for Bahamas Radio Airchecks 1960s and 70's

Hi,

I am looking for airchecks from Bahamas Radio ZNS from late 1960s or early 1970s or any station there. I got in touch with ZNS and they don't have an archive. A friend suggested contacting BBC but didn't have any luck there either. Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Per World Radio Handbook, in that time frame only ZNS on 1540 in Nassau and 810 in Freeport were on the air in the Bahamas. Like England, in that period the Bahamas only had their government run stations.

Ok, so I guess that means there are no recordings available?
Very unlikely. Keep in mind that to record each hour of programming requires a 10" reel, which back then cost in excess of $10 each for just the hub of tape. At least $200 a day for tape, $6,000 a month, $72,000 a year. Add in the space needed to store them with air conditioning and it's about $250,000 a year to keep tapes. And in that climate, after 50 years, most tape would not be usable.

Ok, well I guess that answers that question! Thank you!
Only chance is that some DXer kept a cassette of their "catch". That would be hard to find.

Yes, and I would not even know where to start. I actually am a licensed ham, I guess I could ask around.
Look for the National Radio Club or the IRCA, both are North American AM DX clubs.
