Looking for the best Adult Standards station in Ohio

I am really interested in how many adult standards are locally programmed and how many use all or a form of Dial Global's jocks.

With that said, what would you say are some of the best adult standards stations in Ohio.

WMKV 89.3 Cincinnati
WKHR 91.5 Cleveland
WILE 97.7 Cambridge and WBBD 1400 Wheeling WV—"America's Best Music" (Dial-Global)

Historically, I thought the best was WSAI with Bob Braun and Don Herman.

I'm pretty sure 1400 WBBD has changed formats twice since America's Best Music. First to oldies, then comedy.

I'm always amazed that WILE-FM sticks with it when I pass through the area. I wouldn't be surprised if they swap the AM with the FM though, with FM sports being so popular these days.

Good call on WBBD—that'll teach me to pay any attention to websites, LOL. ;) I got that from tunein, having remembered they were a Dial-Global affiliate when I last drove through that area. Tunein still shows Rick Garza, Lou Simon, and Casey Hayes listed on WBBD's program lineup—all of whom I recognized as Dial-Global announcers. However, I should have known something was outdated because they haven't been part of the America's Best Music lineup for several years now.

Speaking of WILE, Dial-Global, and outdated websites, I gave WILE a listen this morning. All I heard were four '70s songs in a row, which was enough for me to tune out. Dial-Global's website still shows their "adult standards" music mix as 40% '60s and 30% '70s (with the remaining 30% split between '50s and '80s-current). Unless I needed to listen longer than I did, I'd say Dial-Global's website description could use a little updating—in both percentage breakdown as well as format name.

Whenever I drive across Ohio (straight across I-70), I always put WILE on. Cambridge is just about halfway between Columbus and the eastern end of the state, but I can usually pick it up not long after entering Ohio from Wheeling. It fades out near Columbus... which reminds me, for some reason I thought there was a "standards-type" station in Columbus itself, but I must've been mistaken since I couldn't find anything listed on either tunein or iHeart (for whatever that's worth). West of Columbus driving into Indiana, I listen to the "I's" classic country stations on 3 different frequencies (1090, 1130, 1500) and now they added an FM on 100.3.

I vaguely recall a standards station in the northeast part of the state (Akron or Youngstown)—600 WSOM and I think it was local, too—but I see that's a talk station now.

Columbus DID have a Dial Global "America's Best Music" station until quite recently. It was 920 WMNI, which is now all-news. While it's not standards, there is an LPFM in the town of Delaware north of Columbus (WINF 101.9 FM) which airs a very eclectic mix of soft AC, '60s and '70s MOR chart oldies, and some beautiful/easy instrumentals. It's also been reported that its signal makes it into the immediate Columbus area better than it probably should.

Youngstown most recently had "Fabulous 1570" WHTX. That's now flipped to Urban AC.

In north-central Ohio, though, you can still find America's Best Music on 1540 WBCO Bucyrus and 1450 WLEC Sandusky.

If you're in the Lima area, you can hear the Music of Your Life on 1350 WCSM Celina, and a locally automated standards/oldies mix on "Unforgettable 1220" WERT out of Van Wert (used to be an ABC/Citadel "Timeless Favorites" affiliate, and I think they still use some of the "Timeless" jingles too). You can probably also pick up WGL 1250 "The River" out of Fort Wayne (another Dial Global affiliate), although that station recently added a block of talk programming from noon-6pm weekdays.

Anyone know anything about WJEH 990 Gallipolis and WHIZ 1240 Zanesville? WJEH is supposedly standards but I can't find any info about what type of programming they air. I'm not even sure if WHIZ-AM still plays music, or if so what kind.

WILE (AM) is ESPN, and they simulcast on an LPFM on 107.9 in Cambridge. WILE-FM and WGL both stream.

WILE has quite a big signal. I remember hearing it for a hundred miles on I70, only losing it to WNCI's IBUZ. And I enjoyed it's standards format.

Nick: WILE-FM is a class A (no more than about 3,000watts). WILE(AM 1270) is 1,000 watts. Neither is a big coverage station. About 30-40 mile radius normal day coverage.
