Looks like a dog fight brewing between lrs and the fox???Time will tell

I see where lrs hired someone to do afternoon drive and another person to do morning drive.I have heard the afternoon dude.Something called the mo radio show.I think he is pretty good.I wonder why radio one decided to invest in the station instead of flipping it since they are a fluke in the radio one family and active and alt stations overall except for a few markets aren't doing well at all!!! ???Now they need to tweek the format a bit. But they did good with at least the afternoon hire from what i can tell.I still like tony and dwight and the fox in the mornings to funny.

Later

Tony and Dwight are done. Tony is going to 790 AM as of July 5th. Dwight is back on the street selling advertising. The fox morning show is recorded in the afternoon. It's a mess. Game over.

LRS 105 should have been killed a long time ago

Then why does radio one keep a dying format especially since it doesn't fit in with there other stations that they own. They got rid of y100 and i thought since they got of that that station in a large market that was doing pretty well it was just a matter of time till the walrus was put out to see very strange if you ask me.Are they up for sale along with wxma?Anyone know anything? If they or if anyone does buy it keep it you need to remodel the format.I do not think alt/active make good bedfellows :-*

Mr Patrick once again shows a complete lack of understanding of radio. Your obsession for a medium of which you are not a part of is bizarre to say the least. Your rambling, incoherant commentaries are ridiculous.

How do you summize that WXMA is up for sale?

Maybe you should just get a CB or shortwave radio and leave commercial radio to the big boys.

No no i had heard a rumor that no actually i read online that radio one was considering selling there non urban stations that is why i stated that about wxma which i like i was just wondering if the rumor is still out there that they are for sale that is all i did not state they are.

Even if Radio One were willing to part with its non-urban stations, would they move the urban formats on to the bigger signals in their Louisville cluster (99.7, 102.3), or keep Magic and B on the suburban sticks.

Eat2theBeat,

I don't know where you've been, but it is pretty common knowledge that Radio One is looking into spinning some of their statios in Louisville (and elsewhere). It is logical to assume that it would most likely be there non-urban properties, although it is possible that would completely disappear from some cities.

Hey Stacks

You ASSUME that they are looking to off non urbans, but the truth is, they are looking to raise a specific $$ amount, and they are more likely to sell off a couple of larger market stations than several smaller market stations. Not saying that is won't happen but it's not the likely scenerio. The Max is a very strong biller in the Louisville market. WGZB may be the dominant station ratings wise in the cluster but point for point, dollar for dollar, WDJX and The Max are consistantly better billers. This is fact, not conjecture. It is also very doubtful that they would sell one or two stations and keep the rest - I believe it would be an all or nothing proposition.

Clear Channel have said that they are ready to flip format on any non performing station - I would look for some changes at CC before Radio One or Cox.

Isn't Radio One over the ownership cap for the Louisville market? If they want to sell all the stations, they'd have to find at least two buyers, neither of which could be Clear Channel or Cox.

Eat,

I think we agree completely. Sorry, based on yourt previous post I was under the impression that you thought that the Max was securely attached to Radio One. It sounds like we both believe anything could happen over there. I am not quite as optimistic as you that everything in that cluster will remain the same, but like you said, anything could happen.

And yes, I believe Radio One is maxed out in Louisville...and 104.3 in an LMA. CC will most certainly not be doing any buying.

What do you mean the Fox morning show is recorded in the afternoon? No way! Is Charlie Steele live on QMF in the nights? With the hiring of a new live, local morning guy, and a new, live and local afternoon drive guy at WLRS, I see them outlasting the Fox.
