Looks like some of you will get your FM Talk Wish

103.9 looks like it will be the catch-all for dropped syndicated talk shows in Columbus. First Bob & Tom, now Glenn Beck. What's next, Opie and Anthony? Will Pat Pagano be doing weather too ;)

It would appear from the Glenn Beck site that TED will be flipping formats come monday. http://www.glennbeck.com/

haven't heard what else will be on the station.

Now that makes all the sense in the world. While he's on FM, he's on a station with a worse signal that 1230 during the day, even with the upgrade. Can you say a bunch of effort about nothing?

All that noise was probably just to drum up some enthusiam for the change. If I recall, Mark Bohach indicated he was being queried about a couple of the programs he clears being played in Columbus, so some of this has been in the works for a month or so. I doubt Beck was an afterthought.

Exactly.

BTW, is it true Beck once questioned Ted's manhood? Speaking of which...it's too bad for Mayor Coleman this didn't happen a few years ago. But at least now he won't have to worry about inadvertently hearing Beck on a radio downtown, a risk that was always there with TVN, and would have been with 1230 as well.

Anyway, long live Ted! (Even though his website still asks, "What Do You Think of the NEW Ted-FM"...more than two years after it debuted, and as its demise is apparently imminent.) I wonder if Nabco wanted this to leak out in advance? Leave it to a loudmouth like Beck.

Does Talk make any sense for an FM with such a marginal signal? (And based on what we've seen of the upcoming 103.9 signal "upgrade," it's slated to become only a tad less marginal than it is now.)

With a music format, if you're driving and lose decent reception, you just punch up another music station...no big deal. But if your favorite talk idol fades out in the middle of a rant that you're drooling over, you get really irritated. Same thing if you can't pick up your favorite talker at your workplace. Obviously that's one reason 103.9 could never realize the hoped-for ratings bump with Bob & Tom.

It appears to me that by going to Talk on 103.9 Nabco is making a move that is even dumber than some of the stuff Clear Channel/Columbus does with its second-string stations. Almost any music format would fare better than all talk will. If there's some problem with my logic here, please let me know. Also, does anyone know of any marginal-signal FM that has improved ratings or revenue by flipping to talk?

Anyone have any idea as to which sports show they are looking at for the afternoon slot. I don't think they can pick up Dan Patrick since WBNS is already an ESPN affiliate.

Well if TED goes talk they can go mono which would help a little in the fringe areas cut down on the static caused by Stereo loss, but that wont help them downtown.
