Lot of Hot AC in the Bay Area

I wonder why this market has so many hot ACS - 97.3, 101.3, 101.7, 106.5, etc.? Does this format just seem to thrive well here? Pensacola's Q-100 just burned out not too long ago. What are these San Francisco area hot ACS doing that Q wasn't?

There are only two Hot AC's that serve the bulk of the Bay Area. KIOI 101.3 & KLLC 97.3.

The following stations serve just pieces of the Bay Area.

KEZR 106.5 Serves the south bay.

KKIQ 101.7 Serves Livermore and Pleasanton plus some surrounding areas.

KUIC 95.3 Serves Solano County.

KKDV 92.1 Serves Eastern Contra Costa.

KHMX 104.9 Serves Sonoma County
