KXYZ Houston, 10kW days/5kW nights. Currently owned by Multicultural Radio Broadcasting.

KCHN Brookshire, class D at 410 watts, also owned by MRBI.

May also want to have him contact the Liberman with regards to KCOH. Graveyarder at 1kW day/night, only reason it is still in the portfolio is the ongoing lease with Beyond Broadcasting. That lease may very well come to an end depending on the direction Ben Hall takes KCOH. Certainly would be worth a call.

Why buy an AM? Look for a lease; plenty of stations use a brokered time model. And if the format fails, you just call it a day, end the programming, and both you and the station owner can move on to other things. Of course I am assuming that this potential owner has specific programming in mind, or do they want to own a station in order to broker time themselves?

Wonder why Liberman hasn't leased KEYH 850 to an Asian language broadcaster? The signal is a blowtorch in the heavily Asian areas of the market. KQUE 980 would also be a good place for Asian language programming.

Also remember: How do you make a small fortune in radio? Start with a large fortune.

Liberman has not leased 850 because it makes money with its Mexican format. When it was originally built it was done as a competitor to KTRH as an all news station. For a daytimer at 10KW and a signal right up 59 to the NE, it was perfect (almost)...if it had longer time on 10KW, it would have probably lasted longer....(it has Critical Hours @ 2500 and then nite at only 185 watts; the lack of a decent PSRA and PSSA power level in the early days killed the station as a news station...it was chomping at KTRH during the summer but in winter, it lacked enough on air time to keep the audience; today, it might make a decent run on KTRH with its CH and PSSA power levels but the west end toward Katy and NW sides would still be in the null...lots of audience there that they would lose) Liberman rarely sells a property they have bought...I was shocked they actually sold 96.9 and 700; Dan Patrick was paying up to $1 million a year in the LMA (or was that $1 million a month?? I have the info somewhere on the HD!) But it means they have more chances for a real Houston FM signal if one becomes available..
