M3 and M6-class sun flares and CME heading towards Earth Feb 27th

Im already feeling the affects here.... had some 6mhz daytime DX from the UAE and now, what i should be hearing well is noisy and what would be DX is almost gone. It'll be even worse when this hits hard on monday

I'm listening to the ARRL's 160 meter contest via the Milford, PA, web SDR right now and while the band is full of signals, propagation over any real distance is poor. All the strong signals are from Pennsylvania, neighboring states, plus VA and KY. North Carolina and Massachusetts are weak, anything further out is barely audible.

@ct Listener
That Milford PA SDR dial, in the voluminous SDR 'bookmarks' scroll here, is the closest I can find to this den. Am trying to // Milford's own 1450 and Tunkhannock PA's 1460 here -- my closest unheards.
I wonder how much this sunspot belch will affect the KDWN 720 test this early Tuesday morning ......

It's already happening...with 630 KSUR (ex-KIDD) Monterey ALL ALONE...no CHED, no Boise, not even a weak KCIS. KTNN-660 loud and clear with country mx. Spanish on 800 maybe Bakersfield or XEROK.
MAY be hearing an echo on 1140 of CBS Sports...KXST is gone in the next 48 hours!
Pixies song on 1000 is // https://www.radio-en-vivo.mx/stereo-cien-1001 and it's XEOY Mexico City...in and out with KNWN
KCHJ-1010, KTNQ-1020, KFWB-980, XESDD-1030 mixed with KTWO
XERCN-1470 mixing with country music...which turns out to be "KBSN" Moses Lake...a FLIP from News/Talk apparently - can anyone confirm up that way? Was hoping that was Arizona...
KBBR-1340 North Bend OR with ID and local ads...this is rare as heck even with the shorter distance. Also KATA Arcata CA with ESPN.
Black gospel on 1430 - who's this?

Weiser ID SDR has KMIN-980 Grants NM with classic country and a weak Mark Levin under, probably KGLN Glenwood Springs CO. There is NO sign of Ammon ID, Vancouver, or even Los Angeles!
Larry Elder on 1190 likely KXKS Albuquerque.
KUAZ-1550 Tucson big signal with All Things Considered, traffic update, WX check for Tucson.

But WLW, WHAS, and others are in OK on the K3FEF Milford PA SDR...

The sharpies with the spectrum analyzers here would know if there's any connection in this instance ......
I've been a listener for quite a while to an Oldies station and chat room that recently switched its audio for reception via MixCloud.
Many cutouts and blips and silences on the new site's audio system have been occuring lately, much in the time frame for when it was forecast that latest Sun belch would reach earth.
There exists no sophisticated equipment here, like the scopes and apps and proton-smashers many of you have. It's merely a W10 Laptop, miles of wires, and a few battery portable radios.
So, do sunspots affect The Mix Clod? Whatever that is ?

Another BIG flare... M8.6 at 1750 UTC today (12:50PM ET)! Nearly an X-flare. The auroral cx should continue for the next 1-3 days...

It's pretty dead right now, lots of groundwave, very little DX. Even KFAX-1100 is barely there socked in noise.

I beg to differ, a bit @crainbebo

From solarham.net

Coronagraph imagery by STEREO-Ahead shows a very small CME leaving the Sun and does not appear directed our way. No major impacts should be expected.

And my assesment as of of 0130UTC Mar 1.

Things are getting better. The A index shows a 25, the K a 6... im not sure how accurate those numbers are and i think its better than that.

WWV on 15 was pretty decnetly audible and Radio Nacional Brazil on 11780 was in at like S9+10, noisy and fadey.

when solar stuff is going on, everything is completely useless.. .even locals, so i think things are better then the numbers suggest but not good yet

We'll see. That's on the far side of the sun and the solar wind could just miss Earth. It's still southern DX only...and weak at that. 1260 KMZT L.A. all alone no CFRN. UNID talk program on 1060 with no Calgary (Reno?) 1010 is just KCHJ Delano CA and a very weak KIQI underneath with no CBR.
KSL? What KSL? 1160 *dead*.

like i said, . i wouldnt even call this good.. but saturday and sunday, 11780 was inaudible here

Conditions are pretty normal on the lower-frequency ham bands here, but 10, 15, 17 and 20 meters are definitely feeling the effects of this solar activity.

About three nights ago I heard KWKW, LA, 1330 -- a new log, with Spanish language sports talk and // to their stream as well. That was cool. Usually it's CJYM, at varying levels. I also heard KHPY Moreno Valley covering up Redding's KQMS completely on 1670, which doesn't usually happen. Didn't hear anything else that was auroral. Although this was before the solar flare, conditions have been up and down lately.

boombox, anything interesting on the graveyards? Lots of CA stations right now. 970 KESP Modesto dominant with CBS Sports. Something else with religious talk underneath, likely needed Paradise NV (so WHY is KXST-1140 *NOT* showing up with 2 hours before shutdown?!)

No sign of KIXI/KWIP on 880, it's all KKMC Gonzales CA, and weak at that // ESNE Radio stream. Also heard Adventures in Odyssey again on 1300 just after 2000 PT...KROP Brawley CA roping its 500w up here again, then KCMY overpowered them.
