Magic 94.9 kicks off your workday with 94 minutes of music, does it not?

Hey caller10 here in Atlanta, we have B98.5 FM and I bet you guys are so lucky to have Cox sister station Magic 94.9! I wonder besides music from the 80s, 90s, and now all day long, does Magic 94.9 starts your workday with Magic 94.9's "Workday Kickoff"? It's over ninety-four minutes of music to kick off your workday, wow!

Your the same guy that posts on the Atlanta board advertising how great B-985 is, sounds like you work for Cox, don't you?

Whatver you wanna say about CC, WMTX is nowhere as monotonous as Cox AC stations.

I see that poster all the time on the Atlanta board..Atlantas B98.5 does indeed make the workplace..a better place with it's perfect blend of music, to pick you up and make you feel great all day?

However in Magic's case..they upgrade the workday with the most hits that make the hours fly-by with the perfect blend of snappy, toe-tapping favorites from yesterday, Along with relaxing, mind numbing ballads and tunes from today to make it all feel great all day long...in stereo..on FM..........

.....everybody...

But..know what? It works. It's clean, and oh so e-z on the ears...

In Stereo on FM, I remember when all the stations on FM use to say that. Damn we are old!

Not so long ago The Dove used to be "Stereo 103 WDUV." In fact I have an aircheck from 1992 in which they use that positioning. They didn't start really using "The Dove" very much until the mid '90s.

to paraphrase, "...where it sounds the very best - on FM, and in Stereo.."

Rich: Sorry to disagree with you... but I have old business cards from when I worked at WDUV / WBRD in the mid 70's and the " DOVE" WAS used, even on their stationary and business cards...as well as " WDUV, Stereo 103.3 FM...The Dove"...and different variations of the same thing / phrase...

Why does WFEZ gets more personality?

For the same reason mentioned in the other thread about Cox radio, they don't need to fix what aint broken. They're spending money on the stations where they need too. It takes way more of the Tampa Bay cluster's budget to keep stations with formats like 101.5 and 102.5 to be competitive here. That's why. In Miami, research has probably shown that WFEZ needs personality to compete with long time AC WLYF. NO ONE is gonna launch a direct competitor to WDUV and Cox knows it. No reason to change the approach... just freshen it as they have done.

As long as we are nit picking, I never said they never used The Dove "at all." I said "They didn't start really using "The Dove" very much until the mid '90s" and I still stand by that. That doesn't mean it was never used. That means it was not the stations main slogan. The whole point of my post anyway was about the word "stereo."

Why...you youngsters...I remember when WWRM sent out thousands of cassettes we duplicated that had a nicely produced composite of how great the station sounded..and mailed them together..

...wait for it....

WITH a slick REFRIGERATOR MAGNET!!

I don't know about me being a Cox employee. I do know that caller10 is a true groupie of adult contemporary radio and is very concerned by recent trends in radio and this assault on traditional soft-rock values. As well as the increasing numbers of workers now working from home and no longer starting their workday with soft rock favorites. Even through I don't always approve of the current music mix on B98.5, they are trying their best because they run a sweeper/liner currently to encourage at home workers to listen to B98.5 at work even if they work at home. Nonetheless, with so many different media temptations at home, I fear even these listen at work traditional values are also under assault. I don't have all the answers, but perhaps we need mass organized protests across this great nation of ours, with a leader who will call on those who have strayed far from traditional listen at work soft rock values to repent and return. That person and leader might be Delilah.

Besides, if caller10 were a mere Cox employee, would caller10 be posting this even in more markets?

January 14, 2011, 03:31:36 AM

TGIF everyone! I can't wait for the weekend and listening more to my favorite radio station, 93.9 Lite FM! I just can't stop thinking how lucky we are having a station like 93.9 Lite FM in Chicago. I especially like it when they're giving something away and I'm the 9th caller at 591-WLIT and I WIN!!! I'm looking forward to when they find some more money in the prize closet, AWESOME!! I'll make sure to register at litefm.com and enter the keyword Contest. I could kick myself for not registering my office last month, there was a chance 93.9 Lite FM would have come and crashed our workday with a holiday party!
