Most of the advertisers cited have likely purchased packages covering the CC cluster in Los Angeles. SO the net revenue loss will be nil because while they have enough clout to specify that they don't air while J & K are on their spots will just be placed elsewhere on the CC-LA stations, even on KFI.

John and Ken had a MAJOR commentary about this yesterday afternoon how the National Hispanic Media Coalition was trying to launch a boycott against them, get them fired.

Anyway...who in the right mind wants to deal with AT&T anymore?

Hey! I love my AT&T cell phone that drops every other word. It makes conversations more interesting trying to figure out what the other person really said. Thing is I'm afraid to switch because I got burned with T-Mobile and I suspect that Verizon isn't that much better. I'd like the old black phone with a rotary dial that hung in my parents' kitchen so many years ago. Only failed once when an oversized truck tore down the drop from the street.

John and Ken had already announced on-air the week earlier that they were both taking time off this week, so listeners would know it was a planned absence and that the nutcases hadn't "won" by getting them off the air. It is possible that with the big news story of the multiple-murder at a salon in OC, John came in on a scheduled day off to anchor their afternoon coverage as best as he can, in which case he may have had a conflict for that 6:00 hour.

In any case, I love a good one-liner and credit to David E. for coming up with one, but I doubt even Cunning takes appointments after 6:00 pm on a Friday. Clients simply have to wait till Monday to fix their dirty, filthy, rotten, disgusting, unhygienic teeth!

However, with Ralphs and Vons now out of the picture, I understand that KFI now has double the amount of spots for not just 11, but 22 free lasik exams for Doctor Mousa. But you must call right away, because these spots are limited to 22 and once they're filled that's it (until tomorrow of course!).

Maybe we should boycott and protest the Hispanic stations in LA in return. Who knows what the Hispanic announcers are saying about us?

It's all freaking ridiculous. You may disagree with some or all of their views on immigration (I myself have a few issues with what they say), but they are not calling for the curbing of the rights of legal Hispanic/Latino folks. They have a problem with granting rights to illegals. And frankly, when illegal immigrant activists decide to coalesce on the basis of ethnicity when their ethnicity has nothing to do with why they can't get citizenship (blame economic protectionism), then they themselves have already committed the sin of racism.

You have hit on the real basis of the J & K show. I am not certain what their exact views on anything are but one thing I know for sure is that their stated views WILL be controversial. That is what generates news stories such as the one which is at the root of this thread and it is those stories that will drive listeners to KFI. So a few spots for certain sponsors get juggled, the overall effect of the publicity drives ratings and new ads will replace the ones that got shuffled off to other shows on the CC cluster stations. No advertiser has cancelled all of their advertising on all of the other stations housed in the Pinnacle Building.

If John and Ken were not getting listeners and even if their views were the most popular among the majority of people they still would not be on KFI, without ratings. Just like I don't care for most of the music stations anymore but somebody must because the ratings are there, so I buy CDs and download what I like and program my own music for me and the world goes on. But if everyone else quits tuning to radio then the music will change and if no one listens to the talkers on KFI new ones will arrive. The advertisers don't care as long as there are ears that might hear their commercials.

First, who is "us?"

Then, what are the "Hispanic stations?"

The leading stations in Hispanic cume include KIIS, KPWR, KAMP, KBIG and KRTH. And then, of course, stations like KLVE, KRCD, KLAX, KBUE, etc.

Like KIIS and KBIG... most of the Spanish language Hispanic stations are music and entertainment, and don't talk about politics.

David, I tuned into 1020 AM yesterday and Fernando Espuelas was doing his talk show in English now. At first, I thought that it was just a segment but he went on for about an hour in English. Is there any policy at Univision that discourages their hosts from using English in their broadcasts? I mean wouldn't primary listeners feel alienated?

why is speaking out against ILLEGAL imigration so often akin to racism?
