we would have known this days ago if it was the case cbs has no ticket or fan domains registerd to 94.1 i checked them

You never know.In the promo he sounded serious like something is about to give

Word I got from a major reliable blogger is that the word is true. Say si! to WYSP. WIP to announce the "transition" to FM simulcast tomorrow at 7.

Now, would it be just off the wall to see 'YSP go to WIP-FM ... and the AM to go ... WIP MOR/Standards?

I doubt it, but talk about filling a hole with legacy.

I'm betting AM/FM simulcast of sports.

I

They could put Angelo and the rest of the day's drivelcast on 'YSP, in a hole, under a rock or in a cesspool. 99% of the folks don't really care. But to have a return of the WIP heyday, not that would be news. The likelihood of that truly happening must be less than nil.

if this does happen 610 would just become a fox sports station this is what cbs did in detorit i think

Another thought is move 98.1 Fm format to 610 it happened before when 98.1 was playing on 1210 maybe shake things up with Kyw on 98.1 no matter what can't wait for 7Am to get here .

My guess is if WIP flipped back to its metromedia days of MOR/standards it would get a solid rating, but unfortunately it's that older group of listeners the advertisers don't seem to want.

But it sure would be great to hear the ole WIP MOR format again, obviously with different jocks. They could dig up all the old jingles, etc, restart the "metromediocres", restart cash call where the you heard the sound of money and the cash call amount always ended in 61 cents, etc. Ok, it's a pipe dream, but there's a whole bunch of underserved listeners in the Delaware Valley that would love to hear the return of Chickenman and all that great music that was a staple of 610 WIP Metromedia radio in Philadelphia.

You guys are all crazy WIP has an announcement well good for them. What does that have to do with WYSP (nothing)..if anything WYSP needs to go back to all talk not sports..

well if wip and wysp did a fm-am simulcast of sports what would happen to danny bounadouche? now we know cbs doesnt care booker went to nyc just to be fired just a few months later so maybe that could happen here but i think danny could fit in with sports talk he does a shock jock type show i guess he could throw sports in??? now dand c up here in boston are on a sports station but do talk politics and goings on inthe world!!!

I heard from a guy who knows a guy who dates a blogger who knows a guy with INSIDE INFO that there was no format switch of any kind this morning at 7:00. This is VERY reliable stuff.

Well, kinda.

Oh, there was a "Major Announcement" alright.

CBS Radio gave up two promos an hour leading up to the breathtaking event that bloggers, etc. received that said (because I got one,)

"Hi XXX, I just had it confirmed 610 Wip is goin to 94.1 Fm its a done deal and how do I know that well Ang from the morning show said it would change the future of there show in the promo for major announcement 7am tomorrow so I wanted you to post it on Radio-info I am banned from posting there." (Now using a fake alias, I guess ...)

The major announcement ... Morning Crew co-host Rhea Hughes is preggers.

That's it.

End of announcement.

Waste of time. Never us the words "confirmed" or "its (sp) unless you professional posters know what the heck you're talking about. Guessing doesn't count.

Rumor, conjecture and out and out lying is ok ... I get that. But saying that's "a done deal" when you don't know, makes you look, as they say, "stoopid." The industry is already screwed up enough with blatant BS.

PS - the expressed idea of WOGL moving to 610 is ludicrous, be it a simulcast or not. 'OGL is the FM franchise for CBS and they can't afford to dilute that with a move or splitting the franchise to cover AM & FM. They'd go nowhere on AM. Though I know that a move back to the Metromedia days isn't in the cards, especially with the demos and ecomomy, it would do better than with an FM simulcast ... thought it could, probably, make "some" money if the right formatics, music, news, sports, personalities and the fat CBS wallet was open for market sweeping promotions. Slim to none chance. If 'PEN did it, as before, it would take a lot of promotion to rescue it, whereas, not as much with WIP. My thoughts and stoopid opinion, I admit. Would love to see it happen.

End o' rant. Thanks, guys.

PS - a move for WIP to FM makes sense, actually, even in a simulcast. The format has "legs" in the market and the WIP signal is not bad outside the metro against WYSP. It's a successful franchise with a lot of loyalty. Shutting off the IBOC hashmaker on Game Day for the Iggles, where they simulcast 94.1, is a good deal to sync the TV picture with the sound and there is a revenue stream there with the Birds, the Sixers and the Flyers already.

But, yeah, I'd like to hear a full-service AM in the market again, like back in the Metromedia days. I can hear Tom Lamaine now ... Wee Willie Weber, too. And bring back Bill St. James ... and ... oh, forget it. Just dreaming.

My question why not put that format on the internet and get it sponsored to pay there sallaries use modern ways of doing things to get ur dreams into a reality anything is possible if you work hard and have the drive to make it bigtime.Radio will be dead in 10 years that is a done deal .

"Radio will be dead in 10 years that is a done deal ."

Mike, you didn't get the memo about not saying "that is a done deal" without fact, did you?

The Internet is not the "source" for everyone. 95% of people listen to radio. They may not like its content (especially in small markets,) its personalities, its spot load, or its lack of information, news, etc ... but not everyone has a computer and carrying those suckers around or trying to listen to them in a car or truck is limited at best ... at least for now.

Radio can't get the same or similar rates on terrestrial radio ... not now.

PS - The format you speak of is already on the Internet. It's at 610WIP.com

Howard Eskin talks to me about what he would do with 94.1 and the answer is all sports I spoke to the KING yesterday at the borgata and he also said that facebook and myspace are a joke and Channel 6 personalities are on there to promote the station website .Classic convo with the KING and he also says THE CUZ is not a lock to replace him .
