From Broadcast Pioneers website:
We usually don't post notices of new audio when we add them to this website. However, this is such a rare find that we feel compelled to bring it to your attention.

We have obtained from Broadcast Pioneers Vice-President Barry Reisman several hours of recordings he made during the coverage of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Some of it is NOT network coverage but local Philadelphia broadcasts, mostly from WCAU 1210 AM (now WPHT). It features the voices of Broadcast Pioneers members John Facenda, Taylor Grant and Dr. Charles Lee. Others heard include George Lord, Mike Stanley and John Clough.
For more info and links to listen to the audio: http://www.broadcastpioneers.com/

I DO have something to say. I'm so glad that this audio was posted because it was a sad and historic moment in our history. I hope this site will post even more audio of the JFK assassination coverage from other Philadelphia radio stations. Speaking of which, the Broadcast Pioneers has a request for you:
Sometimes we receive e-mails from visitors to this website asking why we don't have something in particular posted. Often, the answer is that we just haven't located it yet.

Keep in mind that most radio stations do not maintain archives. It is too costly. Therefore, this torch has fallen to the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia. However, we do need your help.

Audio tape has existed for a half century and home versions of video tape for a quarter of a century. Much of today's archived material comes from you, visitors to our website. We would like persons holding recordings and pictures in private hands to donate them (or copies) to the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia so what we may preserve them for future generations.
If you can help them out, e-mail them at [email protected]
