Major Wastes of 2 Frequencies: 1550 and 95.7.At one time, they were once linked together!
What is everyones opinion of the new KYOU-1550? Is it better than the old KYCY Talk format? Actually wrong question! Anything is better than the old KYCY Talk format! I personally think it stinks! It is amazing how this frequency as well as former sister frequency 95.7 have just plain SUCKED! When Buckley Broadcasting operated Classical KKHI- 1550 and 95.7, they were the best run Classical Music stations around. In fact, with all the different formats at 95.7 within the last 11 years(1994-2005) since Buckley sold it, they have been: "News/Talk KPIX 95.7 The Express" for 3 years, "Top 40 KZQZ Z-95.7" for 5 years, "Classic Hits KKDV 95,7 The Drive" for 1 Year, "Country KZBR 95.7 The Bear" for almost 2 years and now MAX FM. As for 1550 AM,They simulcast the KPIX News Talk Format until 1997, then they changed calls to KYCY and simulcast its Country FM @ 93.3 with the exception of Don Imus in the mornings and then they went back to News Talk around ?2000? Now they are KYOU. As for both 1550 as well as 95.7 the longest calletters and format was KKHI Classical which was there from 1963 until 1994!
