"Making News: Savannah Style" premiere's tomorrow night 7PM TV Guide channel

Re: "Making News: Savannah Style" premiere's tomorrow night 7PM TV Guide channel

Now this show is getting boring. All I learned last night was that their fat sports dude loves him some McD's.

I guess it won't get interesting until they show them covering the Dixie Crystals explosion.

You mean this is an educational series? :-\

On last night's episode, we learn that no one there can keep a camera battery fully charged, and that Stephanie Simoni is a timid, weak reporter who can't handle mentoring very well. We also learn that one of their directors is promiscuous & has no qualms about having twins out of wedlock.

yawn.

Maybe that channel is the scumbag channel catering to the garbage taking over the heart of Savannah. I hear they're having some of the issues Macon is having (the waterfront certainly isn't one of them; their tourist trade is still solid as a rock). Oh and swing by deadmalls.com to see Savannah Mall. That place was to be the new mall and now it's second-tier.

Yeah, Savannah Mall has new owners (an investment firm out of New York) who are trying to right the ship. As I stated earlier in this thread, they've done a $1 million refurb of the roof, unveiled a new logo, added a soft play area for kids, and are in the process of installing comfortable seating areas with wi-fi and HDTVs, hence the deconstruction of the huge steel clock tower in Center Court. But all that is for naught if they can't bring in (and keep) new tenants, ones that are unique to that mall, and give the place somewhat of a rebranding/redesign/remodeling (the place still has the same design as it did when it opened in July of 1990). I'm not one for monopolies but if they can't turn Savannah Mall around, then they should just sell it to General Growth Properties. GGP seems to have figured out how to keep Oglethorpe Mall thriving year after year - keep consumers engaged by actively pursuing new tenants and making the appropriate and necessary renovations and refurbishments as needed.

Giant malls will go the way of the Dinosaurs.

The good news is that means more crude oil. Maybe gas prices will drop now.

Those people are too busy worrying about their next job to do any real quality work on the one they have now. Equipment woes notwithstanding, some of what I have seen so far with the attitudes of some of the staff toward the jobs that they do, makes me wonder how they ever got hired and why they have been retained.

Perhaps the only way WJCL will ever get out of the cellar will be to fire what they have -- and I mean all of them -- and pony up the necessary funds to hire one or two experienced people, with say 5-10 years experience , and then flesh out the staff with people who have a minimum of three years past experience. Then sign on a few recent J-School grads to fill out the staff. What they have now assures their current level of excellence <ahem!>.

I suspect Stephanie Simoni probably doesn't care for Mr. Sullivan very much. There seems to be some tension between them. Since there are no news staffers with a few more years' experience to mentor the younger staff, he is the only game in town -- and I think Stephanie Simoni is not really thrilled about this. For the record, I'm actually pulling for her; but I fear for her future in broadcast news.

There is no way -- No Way! -- that Jessica Kiss can't be her real name. Even if it does sound like the stage name a rock singer might adopt, or the name some cheesy agent would hang on a starlet. Tell you what, Jessica, if the TV hosting gig doesn't do it for you, you can always come to my housed and smile at me a couple of hours every day. Talk about light therapy ......
