MAN WHO PUT WHIL/WWEL/WXKS (1430 AM/107.9 FM) ON AIR HAS DIED

[Early Byrd]

In 1952, I believe, 1430 AM in Medford was established. The FM came along later. It was started by Judge Sherwood J. "Woody" Tarlow, a native of Gloucester, MA, who owned it until sold to Pyramid and becoming WXKS "Kiss 108".
