Mariah Carey busting out all over on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve

It's frigid in New York but that didnt stop Mariah from wearing next to nothing as usual. 2005 may have been her year but someone needs to tell her she isnt 21 years old anymore.

Dick Clark looks good, looks the same as always actually. Speech is slurred. He said he had to "learn to walk and talk all over again". Good for him for having the courage to get back on the air.

It was also so touching to see him kissing his wife at the ball drop. Our local ABC station in Atlanta showed both the national ball drop from Times Square and the local Peach drop.

Most celebrities would not have the courage to let themselves be seen in that condition, Dick is definately a class act.

ABC's Jarring New Year

I am glad he's able to get on the air, but the contrast between him and the rest of the ABC lot is giving me whiplash. Dick's appearance reminded me of Jack Klugman's return guest appearance on Crossing Jordan. It was quite jarring, but considering the huge amount of change we've gone through with the old familiar network faces changing or departing, I'm fine with Dick still being part of the New Year institution on ABC.

The rest of the parade of ABC people is just scary. Ryan Seacrest and his plastic smile is as vapid as he always is. The Mariah thing features a totally interchangeable feature - she can be replaced by Paris Hilton or Christina Aguilera and you'd never ever know the difference. Marisol's interview with the NYPD and their New Year's wishes was about as plausible as Iraqi WMD being shipped to Greenland to hide it from us. Sometimes nothing -is- better than something.

And then they went to Hillary Duff. Oh god.

Well its not like he is disfigured or anything. It's *only* his speech and, for the most part, you can understand what he is saying. I'm sure he worked on that alot. But he knows his limits. It was Seacrest who introduced Mariah via a public-address type of microphone to the crowd.

While I'd rather see almost anyone else than Ryan Seacrest co-hosting, I must say he is an improvement over Mario "Slater" Lopez (from the original "Saved By The Bell") who was doing the crowd co-hosting for the last couple of years along with Steve Doocy.

Hillary Duff is now lip-synching her way thru the taped portion of tonite's telecast just as Mariah did a little earlier.

Couldn't wait until that Christmas Truce was over could ya? lol

Happy New Year Philip.

After all he and Kari have been through over the last 13 months, we all should be. He has a ways to go, and may never get there, but he was up to the task tonight.

(as Donald Sutherland in 'Buffy' might say) ... and you're watching it!

Re: ABC's Jarring New Year

I was stunned at first to see Dick Clark talking like that. He literally looks the same as he has in the past, but it was still sad to see how much his voice was affected by the stroke since that's obviously the main element needed when hosting this kind of show. I would like to give him a pat on the back, though, for his appearance instead of going into seclusion for the rest of his life like most others would choose to do after suffering a stroke. Good job, Dick! And I hope to see you in better shape during the next New Year's Eve coundowns!

Dick Clark's class and professionalism were a shining star amidst all the come-lately types surrounding him and literally getting by as they grasped Mr. Clark's coat tails. The Seacrest-Duff-Careys with their plastic appearances and lip synching somehow just didn't fit on the same screen with a master of the television art such as Dick Clark.

It was supposedely 33 degrees Farenheit in New York at 12 Midnight EST.

The stage Mariah Carey performed on in Times Square had quite a few lights, which besides iluminating the stage, might also have heated the air around the stage a little.

And she could also have been wearing transparent thermal pantyhose. I'm sure such a kind of pantyhose exists.

Even with her having Billboard Magazine's #1 Hot 100 Single of 2005("We Belong Together"), I still don't care for her. Dick Clark was the only part of the show I was concerned about. I don't give a crap for Ryan Seacrest either.

Agree 10000% on Mr. Clark. Kudos to him for his courage, grace and class.

As for Mariah, she may not be 21, but she looked amazing in that outfit. (Never mind I can't stand her current music...she's just easy on the eyes.)
