Mark Furhman, LAPD detective who played key role in the O.J. Simpson trial

Mark Furhman, the LAPD detective who played a key role in the sensational trial of O.J. Simpson, has died at the age of 74.

Recordings of Fuhrman making racist statements were used to reinforce a defense claim that police had planted evidence,
possibly becoming the cause of Simpson's acquittal.

After leaving the LAPD, he became a pundit at Fox News, and a local talk show host:

He defended his reputation in his book Murder in Brentwood (1997), and wrote several other books on real-life crimes, as well as becoming a Fox News crime pundit and local radio presenter.
