Mark Haines CNBC Business News Morning Anchor 1946-2011

I'm shocked and saddened to learn that Mark Haines has passed away. I always looked forward to watching Mark Haines and Erin Burnett for the morning business news. It was bad enough that just a couple of weeks ago CNBC let Erin Burnett slip away to CNN. Now CNBC and the many fans of the network have lost one of their original network hosts. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and his many co-workers at CNBC. Mark Haines was a real news professional, I will miss his entertaining way of doing the business news at CNBC. Everyday we wake up is truely a gift from the man upstairs. Rest In Peace Mark you were truely a fine professional.
 
Wow, this is an enormous loss for CNBC. This on top of Erin Burnett's departure, sure means a lot more man-hours in the morning for those left in Englewood Cliffs. Haines may have been, as Bob Wright put it, 'an acquired taste', but still was an important and integral part of Squawk Box and the history of the channel. To say he'll be missed is putting it mildly IMHO.

My wife is the smart investor and dedicated CNBC watcher in our house, but we'll both miss Mark Haines. He was a real old-school journalist and anchor. I especially liked him because he didn't let the financial "experts" get away with any BS, and challenged them when he saw flaws in their analysis.

"Acquired taste?" Did somebody actually say that about Haines? What about Jim Cramer, Rick Santelli, and Larry Kudlow? Those guys were definitely acquired tastes for me...and I still haven't 'acquired' Kudlow. Haines was great.
 
I used to watch him every morning on Squawk Box until they changed the format and moved him to 9am from 7am. (8am at first)
Squawk Box jumped the shark when they moved him. He was in the studio live when the WTC disaster unfolded. RIP, Mark Haines.
 
Haines was very comfortable in front of the camera, very willing to be himself, very real. A total pro. He will be missed.
