Martini Zzzzzzzz Radio.....What?...(as in the Geico caveman "what?"

Come on now.
Skin was just community college radio. Nothing more. That's not a bad thing. I like it every now and then but could not eat a steady diet of it.

Martini Lounge Radio.....WHAT? ( http://youtube.com/watch?v=oLZPIqwMmvk )

T...Stop wasting your money and precious airtime with this stuff. Maybe a Martini Lounge show or Martini Lounge hour....but fulltime "fabulous" music?

Must be nice to have time and money to throw away.

Think outside the lounge dude.

Have your martini show, but broadcast live from a different lounge every Sat. night, sell ad time out the kazoo, have a healthy fee to show up there, take a percentage of the door, bring in some live newbie crooners and have a continuing "Lounge Idol" contest every week. Stream live Martini Lounge TV", show footage of the stars on your website, create the buzz. Need more ideas?

I am not rapping you....I give you credit for risking......but...Martini won't fly long...but at least you get kudos from me for being an idea guy...

Excuse me but Martini Radio is JUST what has been lacking on our airwaves. Say what you want but some people do enjoy this format. All that is lacking are hosts.

Go ahead, have your fun and flame away if you so wish.

Uh huh, I know, not 24 hours worth. Now all Martini needs is Tom Moran to say "Hello, you", THEN we are talking good stuff...........

I hear ya buddy. And get Mike Bowe's voice on there too and then ya got something. Just a crying shame it's such a pathetic signal. Can only hear it for the first few minutes of my drive home from work and then the signal goes bye-bye. Can't hear it on the morning drive in and can't hear it at home.

Everybody goes ga-ga because 'YSP is playing 'music' again for the dysfunctionals and the 40 something who never grew up and made something of themself. It'd be wonderful to have Martini on any station AM or FM, that people could actually hear. If it's about selling it, heck, I believe people who like this format have more disposable income then any degenerate 'YSP listener. Nobody I know that listens to the 'YSPs and MMRs of the world has 2 nickels to rub together. And anything they do have they're paying 22% interest on.

I'm glad Tom Kelly returned standards to the Philly airwaves. Sorry to say, but that is your format hole (NOT DANCE!!!). Let's see if he brings in some big names to jock. This format needs "warm and fuzzy" hosts. IF, and only if, it stays a jukebox, it will not do so well. TK, you have a goldmine on your hands...

WHAT's owner needs to understand that he is no longer broadcasting to the ipod generation. The martini folks grew up with great radio personalities. As so many previous posters have stated, "warm and fuzzy" hosts are a must with this format.

The signal of course is a big problem with this station. I hear it for 15 minues on my ride home from Ridley Park.

umm i'm not a fan of the format, but in all fairness, what's wrong with standards on WHAT? what else are you going to do with that horrible frequency? was skin really doing that amazing that we're all mourning its loss? seriously folks. its a 2 watt AM station. might as well put a format on there that folks are going to make the effort to listen to. standards is the perfect fit. with proper promotion they can pick up a lot of 950's listeners. keep in mind, 950's signal wasn't a hell of a lot better back in the WPEN days.

Re: IMHO: WHAT Isn't Trying to Become WPEN

I don't think WHAT is trying to recreate WPEN. WPEN developed around 1979-80 into a mix of timeless standards and soft adult contemporary and personalities to appeal to the former WIP listeners. WHAT is playing Martini/lounge/Vegas type "Rat Pack" standards supposedly including contemporary artists recreating that sound.

I'm not sure that Andy Williams, the Carpenters, the Beatles, Perry Como, etc. fit the "swingin'" image they are going for, and I don't think Tom Moran and Wee Willie and Mike Bowe fit either. I doubt there's a budget for any name personalities, and I'd expect this to remain a jukebox of Vegas act standards artists. Is there really an audience for that on a station with the signal of WHAT? We'll see.
