Marty Bannister out at 980 WONE due to iHeart cuts

Sad to see but not surprising. On a station that can not even pull a 1 share, no one on that payroll can be secure.
I'm surprised iHeartless hasn't sold the station to the Bible Thumpers.
they have an am sports station in phoenix that moved the afteroon host to mornings and hired a pm drive host and it gets a 0.1 in the ratings

Understood but Dayton is not Phoenix.
A 0.1 share is worth more to advertisers in Phoenix than a .06 in Dayton.
Neither of those low shares is of any interest or value to advertisers, whether they be in New York City or Traverse City.

Ratings are principally used by ad agencies and large direct advertisers who have an ad department (often called a "House Agency").

Those agencies won't buy 20 to 30 stations deep in any market. Depending on the buy, they more likely will buy 4, 5 and, rarely, up to about 10 deep in a market. When they buy clusters, they buy the combination of multiple stations added up, and don't look much at single station numbers.

So a 0.1 or a 0.3 or a 0.8 are not going to get ratings-driven buys.

And, still, most buys are based on rating, not share. A 0.9 share is not even a 0.1 rating.

David, Didn't they used to buy Share back in the day? How important is Cume?

Speaking of Marty ... Appears he is doing PBP for Ohio University sports and hosting a sports talk show on Total Media's "The Game" sports format heard on multiple stations in Southern/South Eastern Ohio.

He's been Ohio's PBP since last year when Russ Eisenstein left for another PBP job in Illinois.
He's also one of the co-hosts of "Friday Night Rivals" in Columbus for WWHO.
